Hi all,

Just getting an idea of how many users use/intend on using their mobile/PDA device to access Ozhonda?

I'm looking at possible creating a mobile friendly site. Please vote so I can get numbers

Thanks.....will be in contact shortly.

For the iPhone users.....would you rather browse the full site (as is) or browse a fully cut down/mobile friendly site (ie basically text)

You can view the full site now already if you have the net ready on your phone.

Building an ozhonda m-site would be the only task really.

I use my N95 to browse ozhonda at least once a day.

Problem I've had is with every page I navigate to on ozhonda (and only have this problem with ozhonda atm) my phone tries to download an extra garbled xml/html file half way through the Http response. It contains mainly javascript code.. might be javascript code to try and support cross compatibility that is the culprit. I can't be bothered reading it right now sorry :P

Some pages like the user control panel and the new posts tabs don't cause this. I'm guessing it might be MIME type related... not sure.

Give me a mobile number and I'll text it to you so you can debug.

I'm using a N95-8Gb using the standard web browser... which works fine for every other website.

Summary:
It keeps downloading some dodgy html file half way through the response... but I can still view the page afterwards.. so just a big annoyance at this stage.

are u talking about the actual website ozhonda? or the mobile version of the site?

by going to ozhonda.com itself on your phone isnt the mobile version yet i dont think

I know... I'm using the main site...

Either way it would be swell to fix the main site for commonly used web browsers.. including the symbian OS one.

Look forward to testing any mobile version of this.

Zooming about, trying to go to forums and post etc. is a pain.

This is an awesome idea :P!

Is that via the mobile site or just the normal site?

markCivicVti

Whats the link for the mobile site? I've been using the normal site on both the symbian standard browser and opera mini and both work ok... keen on seeing a mobile version of the site tho.

My friend has the same issue with their n96. Seems to be every site they browse though.

I don't have any problems with my 1st series n95 using the standard nokia browser.

To be honest I prefer the full site anyway. No point accessing a mobile only site when I access everything else through the internet apn.

and ps I've been accessing the site via mobile for years now.

The mobile site link can be located on the homepage, right down the very bottom.

I've tried it out on my iPhone, the mobile website is great for having quick and easy access to the forum.

I would've preferred the website itself to be made 'bigger' or more scaled to be readable in the mobile browser without the need to zoom. I rather scroll down through each forum/thread being larger in the browser than having to zoom in/out.

I did a quick time-difference test between both versions (mobile/full site) with the iPhone (full Optus 3G reception):

Mobile
Main forum page - 00:04.000
Lounge forum - 00:04.143

Full Site
Main forum page - 00:18.134
Lounge forum - 00:20.284

Good stuff

halfway through downloading the page, it downloads some sort of ST file.

Looks like it has caught on and people are using it :)

If anyone has missed it, the link is right at the bottom of the page (for the full site). IF you are viewing the mobile site and wish to return to the full site, the link is up the top.

I would like to thank the testers for giving it a go.....will catchup on my PMs shortly!
