Hey guys,
I've got a pretty stock EK4 civic, no after-market clutch or anything. Anyways, I've noticed that when the engine (or clutch?) is cold, the clutch gives me like 95% play ! D: The main problem is when I kick the clutch in, it won't come back out.. :p the only way it comes back out is if I pull it out with my foot. I also can't get into gear coz it just wont let me, it sounds like a crunch when I move it into gear. =__= Yes the clutch is flat to the floor. Umm to get the car going again, I mash the clutch repetitively and eventually it'll come out like normal and feel normal when I press it again. I can post a picture if you guys want (when I get home), coz I found it pretty funny Lol :p

Time for a new clutch? new clutch fluids? simpler answer? :)

i'd say it's probably your clutch master cylinder. time for a new one/rebuild

have you checked your clutch fluid levels recently ?

Ermm, no I haven't but how much would a new clutch master cylinder cost? :thumbdwn:

master cylinder OR slave cylinder.

check your clutch fluid reservoir - is it low or empty ?

its a small container with a GREY lid , located on the drivers side of your engine bay. Its right next to your brake booster.
IT contains clutch fluid (DOT 4)

if it was DRY - there is a leak in your clutch hydraulic system.
you will need to replace your master cylinder OR slave cylinder...

get a proper mechanic to properly bleed the system of air , see if that fixes the issue.

yep definitely air in the lines and a leak somewhere
have a quick check.. follow your clutch pedal up, do you seen an oily patch near the firewall? cmc may be leaking from there

otherwise look infront of your gearbox where the slave cylinder is, any fluids leaking around there?

How long is this drivable for? Like before I completely fck the clutch system over? I can drive on this problem for say, ~km's? I need this car day in day out thats why :(

to be honest i'm surprised you can drive it anywhere
with the reservoir so empty i would have thought the cmc would be just moving in and out doing nothing to operate the slave cylinder properly since there's next to no hydraulic pressure from lack of fluid
no slave cylinder function = no clutch fork movement

very hard to change gears unless you're matching revs and slotting it in
even so very bad for gearboxes anyway

So... it shouldn't be moving..? T_____T Honestly though, the car is completely mobile, I can drive it around like normal after like 5~10 clutch kicks (which I shouldn't have to do, I know). When I'm driving it doesn't feel like the car is having problems :( well, I guess I'm in need of a mech ASAP

it'll move, just be incredibly hard to get into gears
maybe your clutch system at the moment has just enough fluid to retain function but not enough to actually make the pedal come back up

unlike the brake pedal, the clutch pedal has no spring to help it come back up

well you'd need to find whats wrong before going silly nilly and buying parts

a good bleed might just fix it, who knows
worth 1-2 bottles of brake fluid at about $7/1L to find out whether it's really leaking or just needed a good flush

ninja edit; check out this old diy clutch fluid change (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20212) by no other than trav(egSi)
no pics but if you take note of the instructions and run out to your car it should make sense

wrenchin' with trav were good times:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Lol, then he'll be like "this ___ is brokeded, gimme $xxx and I fix fo yOu", and thats how we roll in inala :p yeh coz I don't think I'm capable of determining whats wrong coz I haven't worked with cars for very long? :D

hmmm, where can I get OEM Honda brake fluids? Tried searching, didn't quite get there. I've decided to flush the fluids (brake & clutch) coz I can :p If there's still problems, I'll hit up the mechs

you can just rock up and honda and ask, they usually stock it
