Hey Guys,
(Im new 2 this) and i think its awesome!
I was wondering which of these 2 cars would win: A 2nd Gen Stock Integra or a stock exec/berlina VL???
im just sick of ppl tellin me i should have brought a commodore and my integra is shit coz its a 4cyl. 1.8L
I just wanted to know, who would win and by how much??

well, if you're a bogan, then the VL Commodore would be more suitable..seems to be the car of choice for the bogan fraternity..as for who would win? dunno, i just wanted to use the word bogan in a sentence :D..but anyways i think you'd find the VL would beat the Integra due to the higher torque from the 6 cyl over the 4 cyl...just a guess

i think it would be a close 1 to, ive never dragged raced but the VL drivers are a little cocky, i only got a integra with a few small mods (nothing to the eng).. and i like to line 1 up.....

My friend had a VL exec with zhorst filter etc, got it dynoed and it put out an ass whooping 68kw atw, Wooo real speed machines they are! good for donuts in the wet though:)

im not sure about the gen 2 teggys.. but some dick had a VL commo. on the cumberland highway once and on the way home after some kk :D he was revving his engine next to me while i was driving... you know.. the vroom vroom... i want to drag you attitude... i didnt want to drag him cause i was with my misses... and some other friends driving behind me.... but the guy kept on revving his car next to me... so i decided thats it.. at the next light.. we dragged.. and i won.. but nothing to be proud of.. i was happy i beat him cause he was a jerk off.. :) wat a loser..

this is a good thing...:D just mucking round with ya...anyway, I woulda thought the 6 would have the torque to pull away. But then again, I've never been in one, and can't remember being next to one, so I was merely guessing...pretend I am a rock :rolleyes:

yeah the teggy in comparison to the vl is quite light. you should munch him off the start, and continue on munching him throughout the quarter hehe, i've taken on the skyline r31 which has the same motor and beat that but i have a gen 3, though you shouldnt have much trouble either. A manual one will give you a good race though, but watchout cos some are turbo.

VL's have a tacho too. non turbo VL's aren't THAT slow.
egSi, i doubt you would have 'raped' VL's. Maybe just beaten one but even then, with an eg... If you did 'rape' him, then i assume it was a really really bad driver or wasn't trying to race.
A friend of mine has a stock VL and he used to beat a real lot of cars. civic's included.

really, that's funny every (n/a) VL I've seen (and the one I've owned) have a clock where you'd expect the Tacho to be. I never said they were slow, but I am now, I class all 16 second cars as slow.

Serious who cares what would win? His car is a sack of shit made for those who cannot afford class manufacturers AKA Honda. Id rather an Integra anyday. Commonwhore's really give me the shits!

The teggy is lighter than a vl?? are you sure? I would've thought the vl was way lighter :confused: Well it feels much lighter when I drive my bro's vl ... and a stock standard teggy is a 'nugget' next to a vl loll

my bro has a gen 2(few mods), and itll take a VL easy... he's beaten a few 'bogans' and yobbs in commys, even in their prime homeland of penrith!
just need to drive ur teg hard, shift well and try not to go below 3500rpm at least
make sure u start at least 4000rpm or over
of course condition of the cars/engines come into factor

btw.... my teg is virtually stock....apart from a small stereo and clear indicators.... and its auto.
just to see if a teg would win ... i did the power to weight thing:
TEG - 1150/97 - 11.8
VL - 1250/114 - 10.9
so i think the teg might just lose...
but i thought bout it and it all depends on how many ppl are in each car!

I`ve seen a lot of standard VLs and the vast majority are very very slow, in there old age. Even the VL turbos are gettin on now and its rare you`ll find an unmodified example. Your teg will own it. Even if the VL does have a chance it will be very early on (0-100) after that bye bye, oh and they have no go after 160, don't ask me how i know :P

so many cars have a better power to weight ratio then the teggys.. yet the teggies are faster...
mines got nuthin special.. just a cat back exhaust.. n thats it lol
ive beaten so many SSS's, gti corrolas, vl/vn/vp/vr and even vx commo's--> (they do the 0-100 in 9.3) etc and they all have better power to weight ratios then the teggy..

really? shit man well i have 'raped' em, commodores have nothing after third gear. my eg has intake/catback and is lightened but i didnt think that would of made a huge difference.

Just in regard to the power to weight ratio.....
Calculating the ratio in terms of Kw/tonne
LS Integra (Auto) = 103kw/1.147 VL Commodore SL (Auto) = 114kw/1.255
= 89.79 = 90.83
LS Integra (Manual) = 103/1.122 VL Commodore SL (Manual) = 114/1.225
= 91.8 = 93.06
LS Integra Torque = 170Nm VL Commodore SL Torque = 247Nm
The VL Commodore Executive weighed about 20kg more than the SL, making the comparison even closer.

ok power to weight, vl wins. it has near double the capacity 3.0L compared to 1.8L. And yet people here say the teg will "own" the VL and "rape" the VL. Come on guys. Hondas are good, that's why i own one, but don't get so big headed all the time just saying that your car will beat another car.
What's next? My ek cxi raped a fully modded GTR. He beat me at the start because of his 4wd but at the top of second i caught him and by the top of third (because my 1.6 4cyl has so much torque) i overtook him.

another thing you gotta think of is aerodynamics.. air would have to slip past LS's easier than a VL... but that would only start mattering at around 120+ i guess.... VL's were great cars when they were new... but nowhere near the level of refinement of honda's (even old ones heheh)

I got an old 'wheels magazine' with the specs, and it says 97kw...i dunno

the 89-91 LS's put out 96kw, and 92-93 (later style) LS's put out 103kw
