Brake pad replacement

How far we have to replace the rear brake pads in average?
How much does it cost to replace both front and rear pads if i bring the parts in?
I am around Maroubra.

the jazz has rear DRUM brakes. The drum shoes require replacing every 60-80,000k or so. The rear brakes do around 30% of your braking so require less changes

call HANNYS performance on 9725 5115 for a quick cheap rear shoe change.

Otherwise go to any decent local mech in your area , they should be able to do it too.

Could I just recommend Ferodo Excel front brake pads for the Jazz. Im no racer, but these are far better than the OEM Honda pads. $130 or so for the front Honda oem :thumbsup:pads, $85 for the Ferodo. Ferodo pads are very smooth, with heaps more bite than the oem.

last time i changed my pads was during servicing, went to Hanny's and they didnt charge me anything for the labour, guess it was part of the service ?? not sure tho.

pretty sure the labour is cheap for changing the pads, i changed it once from memory i think it was cheap say bout $50 or less but then again the mechanic was a friend of mine so shop around.

It should only take 1/2 hour to change pads. If you're at all mechanical it's pretty easy. Shops will charge you an hours labour at least. (Drive car onto hoist, raise hoist, remove front wheels, change pads, replace wheels, lower hoist, drive off and test.)
Ferado pads or Bendix are excellent and about $80. Also they might want to sell you a rotor skim. Rear shoes are a little more difficult as the hand brake also works here and bonded shoes are more expensive to buy and you may need a set of drums, but Jazz rears go over 150,000kms and if you clean the drums out when you change the front pads can get to 200,000kms.

harrywing: HONMAZ is a Honda-Mazda specialist in Perth. They say the rear shoes do 150,00-200,000kms and the pads do 50-60,000kms under normal braking. Hoons can lower that to 30-40,000kms.
Adjusting handbrake? If you notice the handbrake rising higher over the years, adjust it. I have gone 5 years and it's still OK. My pads have done 50,000kms still 25% to go, so will be on the agenda at 60,000kms and I will clean up the rear drums and adjust handbrake then.
TIP: Always press in the nob on the handbrake when you pull it on to save wear on the ratchet.
