Last night on my way home from work i decided to test my brake I managed to lock up both front wheels in no time at all when i was in third gear. Generaly i am a little unimpressed at my standard ek's brakes. What upgrade coices do i have and what am i looking at price wise for something that will help stop me sooner. I have a 97 ek sedan with 18's and about 400kg's in the boot. Thanks guys.

spoon calipers cost a arm and a leg..
but very very good braking..
anywayz...
most common brake upgrade is the Integra VTR brake upgrade
wouldnt cost much for the front as the rears are the same.
all u have to have is the disc and the caliper.

how does ek4 brakes weight up to prelude and dc2 brakes?
EK4=EG6=DC2 (vtir) brakes are the same..
same part number as i found out..
the prelude brakes are abit bigger.
and the DC2R (5stud) brakes are the best u can get with in the Stock OEM parts. that'll bolt on

94 prelude brakes = type-r brakes
just 4 stud and 5 stud
go get and 94 prelude brake set, and get the disc redrilled, but the caliper really so #^)*#() heavy compare to the one on EK

Is it legal to redrill the disks?
Remember 4th gen prelude = 4 stud and 5th gen = 5 stud
That said, 5th gen lude si = 4 stud and vtir = 5 stud
So make sure you get the right one :)

If you locked up your front wheels in no time, it sounds like your brakes are working fine.
Either get new tyres or ABS.

No.
5th gen Si is 4 stud... 4x114.3
Same as 4th gen
EG/DC2 are 4x100 so yes Civic and Dc2 (except the R) are interchangable..
As are all 4th Gen preludes with 5th Gen Si... and the series 1 JDM ITR

Before going all out with the Prelude kit, I'd suggest you upgrade to performance brake pads eg Green stuff or Bendix etc. You'll be able to source some good pads even in Tassie. Pads don't cost much and are a very influential braking component.
Another option worth looking at is slotted rotors. These grip like buggery and appear to be cheaper then cross drilled rotors.
 :)
Despite the comments from Nightrider i would have to warn against putting high grade brake pads on your dics. They bite much harder and warp your OEM discs. if your gonna upgrade do both. Thats what ive heard anyway. Just a warning.
Maybe someone can clarify it more.
