to cut a long story short, this old ****er smashed into my car with a towbar at burwood and basically drove off
i had witnesses who saw the car before and after it hit it (old man and two young chinese girls talking and pointing at the smash as they got out of the car), but not during the time he hit my car...
he came back and i confronted him and basically he tried to drive off without saying anything and preventing me from getting is name / number

went to police with evidence and they didnt want to do anything because all my witness saw just hte before and after incident... and despite the towbar colour matching the smash on my front of my fd civic .... and the fact he tried to drive off asap when i tried to approach him... and the fact his car was backing out of a driveway and the only possible angle to hit my car was if u drove out of the driveway (witness said he had a mattress on his car so he couldnt see behind him)...

still the police say they wotn do anything

extremely fcking pissed!!! especially as i confronted the guy and he was so rude and cheap... and the fact he had two girls from china in his car that kept quiet because he was their new landlord and he helped them move.. they kept pretending they didnt feel anything but then they start talking about how its their landlord and they cant find a cheaper place to stay??? geez whats that got to do with anything if its a criminal matter? f***king hell

anyways the front is smashed in pretty bad (just under the headlights on the right hand side

how much is the quote to replace the whole part? its just the part under the headlight .. is it called front spoiler? i doubt its repairable because ive got the whole side smashed in and its still swinging around when the wind blows -_-

you'd be looking around 600ish if it's merely bumper damage.

I got assrammed by an old lady and that cost about 500... luckily insurance was there to cover it.

was on my way to work yesterday... and i saw this blue honda civic on the front lawn of some house.. slowly drove by and the whole front was smashed (saw the front reinforcement bar).. it looked like the car went into the front fence of the house... the road was down hill and with a 50 zone

Commodore with tow bar reversed into my Civic, a little under 10K Damage. I have since sold it due to amount of damage.

The major problem for me was when the Calais reversed into me she pushed me back several feet into the car behind me. When you have an Auto in park it is not designed to be pushed backwards. To what extent the Auto G/box was damaged I don't know & I didn't want to keep the car long enough to find out. The last picture shows how far back the car was pushed.

wow man, that had gotta suck hard.
u can see the parking line in that last picture, how the hell does somebody keep reversing so far back?!?! this incident is just baffling..
did the driver say anything?

Write off by insurance ?

buddah51au
09-03-2009, 11:27 AM
It was not written off unfortunately. All I know is i was sitting on the left front guard & was thrown about 15 feet through the air & after 2 road trips in an ambulance I found myself on an RFDS flight to Bris.

I am still baffled by the incident, the crazy driver actually wheel spinning in reverse. And by the way the parking spot in front of me was vacant to give you an idea how far back she came.

Did the driver say anything, i wouldn't have a clue as I was in the land of the sleeping for a few hours.

shit, as long as ur alrite mate. but thats a f**ing stupid driver for u.. how someone can reverse that far back is just beyond knowledge..

I can't say too much as the case is ongoing. I will add that prior to the incident I had undergone 6 spinal surgeries.....so i can't afford to trip over let alone fly approx 15' through the air

Hey RyanC AAMI also has my civic fd..smashed yesterday got rear ended and i hit the car in front (who also had a tow bar). Hoping AAMI might write it off but I doubt it...

Just a word of advice...make sure that they provide you "written evidence" that the parts that they use to replace your damaged vehicle are new and genuine OEM parts if the vehicle is still under the manufacturer's warranty... It happened to me a couple of years ago where they didn't replace with new OEM parts...instead they used old "reconditioned" parts and to add insult they didn't even do the job properly...as in they didn't properly do the seals...

AAMI are renowned for using 2nd hand / reconditioned parts. There have been several stories about it on current affairs shows over the years.

once the car is repaired & painted you would never know. The only advice i can give is that you should give serious consideration to who you are insured with when renewal time comes around & remember cheapest isn't always the best.
Let me just add that when my FD was repaired there was a very small dent in the boot lid about the size of your thumb nail. as the vehicle was under 2 years old the boot lid was replaced, not repaired. That's the sort of insurance company I want behind me.
