Hi i was wondering because i dont have a hole for my IAT sensor on my CAI, i'd use the hole meant for the oil for it and use a oil filter breather for my oil place instead, a long time ago i heard it is no good for vtec is it true ?? need to know whether i should make a hole in my CAI.

The post is a bit confusing but you should:

Make the hole in the CAI/intake tube and re-connect the IAT sensor

and

Connect the hose from the valve cover to the CAI/intake tube aswell if you want your engine to last.

i'm running an oil filter breather off my rocker cover. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm runnin an intake with only one hole. (OEM Integra Type R)

I'm thinking of running a T Piece style thing for now cause i don't want to make a new hole in the OEM arm.

breather is good. It help to reduce buildup on the engine.

I would love to hear what the race car builders have to say on this cause I got that info from a VERY respected person on d-series.org 'Transzex'.

you need to run the breather no matter what. It just depends where it gets its source from.

IMO the OEM setup is just fine.

so would i.
Even on modified and boosted engines , what reason should you need to modify the existing Positive crankcase system ? As long as its maintained (that is , properly working PCV , clean and clear oil separator too) it should cope with most setups. Only hardcore boost apps would require some re routing IE remove PCV and relocate to mouth of turbine etc

I was talking about the red circled part - breather tube, the green circle is the PCV.Just making sure we are all on the same page here.

thats what im talking about. Even the small tube on the "inlet" is angled in a way to promote as little resistance and maximize air flow into the head

for some trivia - its illegal to have a simple breather on the cam cover.

So both systems are a 'PCV system'?

Abit hard understanding the original post.

but Beeza

red Circle - Usually sucks air in - I guess as long as you have some form of filter - might not be defect friendly.

Green circle - Thats where you should run the oil catch.

beeza they're part of the same system.

Yeah true,it does go the other way very little though right? It just releases the pressure.

So the air flows as so:

This is where I have re-connected the IAT sensor on the intake.I would have liked to have connected up further away from the Throttle body as to not affect the air flow so much but for every bit of wire you add/lengthen you lose 0.1V and since the sensor is only 1V,it's not worth it.

ok so this is where you run the catch can on the tube thingo that dissappers under the intake manifold? sorry i dont know caz usually hook them up to the rocker breather?

Yes,it's the green circled one,as said,my catch can is in the circle too.So you run 2 hoses from the catch can,one to the Intake manifold and one to the PCV Valve located an elbow lengths down behind the Intake manifold.Just follow the stock hose from the Intake manifold, the PCV Valve is located at the end of that.Best to take it out and clean it up with carby cleaner,it gets real clogged up and prevents the system from working properly.

ok so i am running a breather filter off the rocker cover, so i just put the catch can between the 2 openings in the green circle? sorry for dumb questions :p

yeah. catch can goes inline with the pipe in the green circle.

between the manifold and the PCV valve.

Yeah a catch can is good!
