Hi,

Im new to the forum and Honda!

I have sussed out prices on Tein SS coilovers, but $2000+ is out of my price range.

Can anyone recommend something cheaper that will give my DC5 a nice low stance and a firm ride?

Let me know

Thanks guys

Type R shocks and Springs would be the Obvious thought

Shocks and Custom springs would be a second option

go get urself a set of progressive springs **eg spoon, ebacih, tein s tech**

cost u about 500 new or 350 2nd hand. give a great suprisingly firm ride that is lower than stock so but not to low so it looks rather aggresive..

check out for sale thread, there is some tien flex's for sale in QLD from a member.

I will suggest coils as the best alternative if you are intending to track it

however progressive springs are pretty good if you just want a better looking stance.

He is probably referrring to JDM DC5R springs and dampers. JDM Type Rs are lower than Australian delivered cars, and the spring and damper rates are different.

This sounds like a good idea, get a good quality spring and you can upgrade to Koni yellow dampers at a later date. You most likely end up with better ride comfort than most coilovers and Koni's are a quality damper.

Apprentley the tein s tech springs are too soft?

I know Ebacihs are popular with wrx's owners because of the stiffness...

I know you say you are looking for a cheaper option, but I think that you should think about saving up a bit more cash and get coils. I went through the process of getting springs and then shocks, before deciding that what I wanted all along was coils. I would have saved myself a fair bit of $$ if I did it right the 1st time! - Just my thoughts!

JDM DC5R sussy will only drop your car about 1/4 of an inch.

Not really worth the hassle.

Don't touch King springs, they are awful, feels like your car is on pillows.

I had Kings springs in my Impreza, the ride was awful.

Never will touch those 'pillows' again haha :p

Buying used JDM coilovers is risky, most are designed for the Japanese roads so the damping is really stiff.

Tein super streets bought in Aus are safe bet. Worth saving for, do it once and do it right. Cutting corners costs more in the long run.

i was in the same boat as you, in the end i opted for 2nd hand coilovers. however there was a lot of dodgy looking ones out there.

i ended up looking for a while until i picked up some tien's. they had very low kms and looked brand new when i bought them.

and that was for well under 1000$
