Hey guys.
I had an EK4 lined up to buy (paid deposit and all) and the seller has really been ****ing me around so I pulled out of the sale and now i'm searching for another EK4.
I have only seen one other one for sale here in Perth and it seems like a good car but i'm unsure as it has been for sale for a long time.
If I were to offer someone a carton or some cash would they come have a look at the car with me? I need someone knowledgeable and someone who knows these cars well. I don't want to buy a dud so this would be a great help.
Wow car looks really good, even has OEM foggies, if that was there from new first owner didn't spare any expenses

He said rear brakes and brake master cylinder has been changed 2 months ago. Also says car is overall good condition and no rust at all. I'm checking it out asap so would love some help :)
if you are serious and you think it looks gud, why dont you take it to the mechanic , to have it checked?? at least you will have a peace of mind..
usually if u r serious, the seller dont mind it.. as long as you are genuinely interested :)

in Adelaide we have RAA which you can arrange an appointment where they come out, check the car and do a report but this costs depending on how thorough you want a vehicle checked. I think it's called RAC WA for your state.

I am serious. I can pay cash and am looking to buy asap.
I don't trust RAC inspections. I have had one done before and there were a ton of things wrong with the car that they didn't pick up. Not happy at all.
I was hoping someone could come with me and have a look but I might have to take it somewhere to get checked.
Why dont you find a decent honda mechanic in the area and see if they'll do an inspection if your not confident in doing so yourself, apart from accident damage, if the overall of a car is decent and the service history is there by a quality workshop/dealer, then you can be quiet safe in a purchase, different coloured uneven gapped panels, trashed interior, no service history ect, then be worried about what you have in front of you.

Hi, im new to the forum but have had an EK before. Im in Perth and wouldnt mind helping out. My partner would know a bit more about what to look for etc. He seems to be more mechanically minded than i am.
Probably after someone with more rep of this site. The car looks okay, like they all do.

fogs are most likely the aftermarket ones, as I can't remember OZ getting them as on option
that's a pretty fair price for one, hell half of my mates with ek4/em1s have alot more ks than that, and still have never missed a beat :D
just look for panel alignment, colour of panels, fluid conditions (check the oil, wiper fluid, brake and clutch reserviors, power steering reservior, radiator reservior level, battery water level(if it's not a maintence free item), log book if any (if it has one great, but if it doesn't don't dismiss it just yet)
It's always nice if you're able to get the wheels off to inspect things like wheel bearing, brake pad life, disc life (check for warping, etc), oil leaks on gaskets, exhaust condition, cv boot condition (these dont last forever and good chance might have a split one not overly expensive to fix ethier), tire wear (check for foreign objects in it such as nails, check even wear)
check interior roof for marks/sagging, check carpet for wear/sediments, make sure the stereo works, ac works on all settings, check the spare tire for wear/tread depth, check tools are there, recline all the seats to ensure the all function, check the boot hatch gas struts are in working order and dont fall down when u open it
check all exterior lighting works, honk the horn, check the wipers on all speeds and the jets spray out water
go for a drive
see if the clutch slips, brakes arent spongy, no outside/interior noises (turn the radio off and open all windows for the test drive)
if it comes up clean on this, it should be fine
If it was a more expensive car I would recommend a compression test

Test drove the car today and all is good. I paid a deposit and i'm picking it up on monday. Everything works, panels are straight, interior is good with hardly any wear, engine bay is nice but dirty, car has just been serviced and rego paid, gearbox feels tight, no rust at all even around sunroof, paint is decent for age clear is fading on bonnet etc, small scrape on front bar with some white paint on it, drives straight although may be pulling to the left just slightly, very smooth and quiet to drive. That's all I can think of for the moment lol.
EDIT
I forgot to mention I got it for $11,200. Owner wouldn't go any lower but I reckon it's a good deal.

Only pics I have are the crappy carsales ones. Come monday I will have plenty of pics.
I just contacted one of the traders and am getting a few parts. Spoon wipers, EK9 headlights, J's Racing intake and i'm trying to locate an OEM rear vision mirror (interior one) as it's cracked.
It looked good and for the money think you got a good buy, i wouldnt be upset if you did find a few things wrong at that price, it is a 10 year old car and too be expected.
Wecome to owning an EK, they are better then EG's and DC's. :p

Yeah man got the black one. I didn't call your mate only because I need a car that is reliable and neat for a while until I get another job. I wanted a stock one so i'm happy with the purchase.

Picking the car up in a couple of hours guys. Very excited.
I rang Honda about getting a rear view mirror and holy shit it's expensive. $248 for a plain old rear view mirror.
My seat belt is also frayed. Any idea how much it costs to replace those?
