as title says, it was ok when I first got it from japan but after gearbox oil change it started happening, not all the time but it happens maybe few times in a days driving nothing major but I prefer to fix it, like my car to be perfect, my tuner put good untishock redline oil in that he puts into other hondas as well (DC5s S2Ks), what you guys think it could be, oil?? or something else,
thanks

EDIT: if it is the shockproof series oil from redline, those solid microscopic particles that suppose to be in "suspension" state in the oil might had precipitate out and clogged bearings and causing damages here and there.

You need the following parts & a GB overhaul.
1st counter gear
1st~2nd hub ring & sleeve
2nd counter gear
The dogs on the gears are worn for it to pop out.
To wear the dogs, the syncro rings & the sleeve are likley stuffed.
There is no cheap fix or bandaid solution - sorry.

fu#k, would this be result of that oil, because it was ok before we put it in???
also how much you recon for those things you listed??

it would be cheaper to get another box if your box is screwed.
Try the OEM oil first and see how you go

I hope it's not the box, I'm trying oem oil on monday, I hope it's all gonna be ok, it's not like it's happening all the time, there is no even crunching or anything, fingers crossed:)

To be honest, it's more likley the driver than the oil (no offence).
You can try changing the oil but I doubt it'll work.
If it does, it says real good things about the oil you used.
To fix it properly
Ballpark for the parts is:
1st counter gear - $210
1st ~ 2nd Hub ring & sleeve - $600
2nd counter gear - $192
This is older pricing from Honda before the dollar bombed out & the prices went up in Japan. So maybe add 10~20%
Unless you can do it yourself,
You're also going to be up for Gearbox R & R, Gearbox overhaul,
Gear oil (OEM) MTF and possibly a few other bits you won't know about until it's appart.
PM Dr Honda
He has been through more of these boxes than anyone I know.
They is a good chance he'll have the parts you need.
Cheers

ok boys changed gearbox oil today back to OEM, so far so good, did day of driving without any truble:), my tuner told me that oil was clean (no little bits and pieces that could mean something went bang inside), he told me to drive it for few days and see how it goes, but he recons it will take another oil change to get that redline stuff out cos it intends to stick to gears inside
so looks like it was the oil.

Wow!... That's great. I gotta say I am surprised, but it is good news.
Let hope it keeps up.
Your experience is a great advert for the other oil you were using. :p

Thanks for all the input guys, yeah I hope it keeps up hehe, from now on I'll stick with OEM stuff, i don't think that redline oil is bad it's just not suited for my car.

Yeah. There are too many grades of Redline Shockproof that it is easy to put the wrong one that is unsuitable for Hondas in the gearbox. Which one did you use? There are the Superlight, Lightweight and Heavy variants of shockproof. And the thinnest version is still a grade thicker than Honda MTF.

Light weight shock proof is what I use to use.

Rebuilt gearbox.

Rebuilt gearbox.
Damn...
Here are the viscosities.
Superlight - 75w90
Lightweight - 75w140
Heavy - 75w250
Honda OEM - 75w80
So the only Shockproof that we can use is Superlight and even that is one grade thicker than OEM. No wonder your gearbox shat itself.

I'm not shure but I think we had superlight or lightweight in, def not heavy.

I don't ever really remember the gears popping out... I think mine just died.
Basically, as soon as you slightly took your foot off the clutch peddle whilst the car was stationery the engine would shake violently (that much it broke both front and rear engine mounts).
I did drive it from my house to a mechanic (About 1km) and it drove fine, but whilst on idle it was VERY VERY bad.
But mind you, to my knowledge, that car was using the lightweight oil for well over 10k km (Was getting changed ever 10k or so as it would stick) from when I owned it and and unknown period of time from the previous owner.

Mine was in car for maybe 500km, because as soon as we putted in it started with poping out (not all the time but from time to time) I had to go away for work but now as soon as I came back I changed it back to oem so maybe because it wasn't driven much with that oil it didn't brake anything

so when u say gear is popping out, do u mean when ur driving along and the gearstick falls out of gear back to neutral ??

It happend on normal take offs at lights, I put in 1st and as soon as car starts moving it pops out, also from 1st to 2nd and than it would pop out.
and yes the gear stick pops out back to neutral
Don't just buy another gearbox, get yours reconditioned by a good gearbox builder and then you'll KNOW the condition of everything inside the box. Good luck

No man it's ok now, if you read all tread you'll find out it was redline oil that was the problem:), anyway if my box ever brakes I'll have it rebulid, would neve buy second hand one
