I dont know the big difference is the em1 has two door ej8 has four door

Em1 comes with b16am ej8 comes with sohc ect

theres plenty of differences.... how about stop being lazy and read up on them a bit
Its amazing what you'll learn about the car you want to buy

Imo the em1 is just plain sexy, and the arse end looks better

^^ both have 2 doors buddy... theyre both coupes imported from america (i think..?)
ej8 is the prefacelift ek coupe (96-98) - badged the civic vti coupe
em1 is the facelifted ek coupe (99-00) - badged the civic vti-r coupe
ej8 comes with d16y8 (d series SOHC) engine
em1 comes with b16a2 (b series DOHC) engine (something like that code.. correct me if im wrong)

thats basically it man..

suspension (rear has different factory subframe to EJ8 and sway bar factory), engine, gearbox, seats, cluster, armrest, interior trim, rear disc brakes, strut brace, 15" wheels, 99-00 front end (grill, bumper, rad support, lip, inner gaurds, gaurds, headlights hood), different rear bumper, ecu, wiring, tail lights, licence plate surround, vtec stickers, vtir sticker

just to name a few obvious differences on the EM1 coupe 99-00

both weigh around the same ammount, parts are interchangable, both can be made into each other

Honda still stocks parts for most of the car aparts from a few odd bits which have been discountinued (floormats, side skirts, optional front and rear lips (96-98 model, 99-00 rear lip)

The VTi-R is more desirable in factory form as it has the B16A2, but if your after doing an engine swap (and also like myself like the 96-98 front end better) each are just as good :D

hope that helped a bit (rep point please :D)

Rear bars are straight swap interchangeable.

As for the front, if you CAN NOT mix and match EM1 and EJ8 panels.
You can only use one or the other,
Either ALL EJ8 or ALL EM1 panels.

rear lip on ej8 wont fit to em1 which sucks.. esp coz the hondaacess lip is the best lip for em.

the door moulds on an ej8 is fat and stick out, where em1 is flat

EK1.6LCIV
02-03-2009, 09:23 AM
but Em1 lips can be made to fit EJ8s :D

am i right in saying EJ's have lighter interior?
do the ej's have cup holders and passenger airbags?

EK1.6LCIV
02-03-2009, 10:39 AM
EJ8s have passenger and driver airbags, cup holders, some had sunroofs, they have different seats to the Em1

EM1s have very lush front drivers seats with adjustments on the side (like the EK4 hatch)

EJ8s have different trim on the seats and also dont have the EM1 centre armrest

em1 = rare, more pricey, dual cams, looks
ej8 = not as pricey, single cams, looks

EK1.6LCIV
02-03-2009, 03:36 PM
rear bumper will swap between both models without modification

the front will not, unless u swap the entire front end of ethier

EK1.6LCIV

drums :(

but in saying that I cant notice a diff in braking between both standard models with oem pads...

handling is a diff story, not having a rear sway bar stock does make the EJ8 a bit of a handful thro corners, but once you throw on an EM1 item, that's fixed

brakes have never been an issue since the upgrade to 17s (no more smoking them up, damn standard 14s... lol)
