vtec in a ek cxi

Hey guys,

I wanna engine conversion from my d16y to either a b16a2 or b20 with b 16 or b18 head
what would be best?
and would i be better off getting a full halfcut or just buying the engine gearbox and all my budget is 5k max

if your budget is 5k max for everything id go for a b16a.. just keep your eyes peeled for someone selling the running gear from an ek4 or something thats it and a conversion harness.

yeah i asked just jap in lansvale they told me that i can get a b20 block for 500bux
i dont noe wat else is needed for this conversion

yeah u can get b20 blocks for around that.. your gonna need arp headstuds vtec conversion kit etc etc theres more to it then just getting the block slapping the head on it and slapping it in. gonna cost you more then 5k

what would be needed if you've already got a car running a B16?
can you just rip the block out and swap it for a b20? (+ tuning of course)

exactly.. u'll need more than 5k. if your looking for more power than a b16 why not look into a b18c Si-R? (not the type r) basically the jdm version of a b18c2. that or a h22

nah, there's alot more in making a b20/16 work than just slapping the two together

first off the b20 has no vtec, so you have to get that to work amongst alot of other key problems

for your budget I'd go a b16a forsure :D

just buy a b16 running gear, it works out cheaper, slap the block and conversion kit, starting from block will cost heaps, but its done properly and better

might even be able to pick up a b18c2 which is more torquey than a b16a but a b16a is alot of fun to drive, unless of course you have more than 2 people in the car lol

agreed with chi, if it's gonna cost you about $5k just to get a b16 in your ek
you'd still be missing the black interior, sway bars, sunroof and seats

I agree with Chi, go the EK4. Complete Package, better chassis structure, sunroof, black interior, B16 and all that good stuff.

if you got 7k now, sell the cxi and get a integra vtir or even a ek4 and will have some money left over for some nice jdm goodies!
