I hired a steam cleaner for 4 hours from Woolworths for $32 + $7 for the Upholstery cleaning solution. You just need 2 forms of ID,no deposit.

Easy as to use,it took me 2 hrs to do the whole car, doing a mickey mouse job.

2 Front seats
Rear seat
4 Mats
Floor carpet

I ended up with 4 big bucket full of black water

It's amazing the amount of slime that accumulates over the years :car:

Anyways  time!

The original plan was to split the cost with my mate and do 2 cars, but he got lazy.

$40 is way worth it cause I did a real shmick job,no joe blow is gonna do half the job I done, money very well spent.

I had plans to do my pillow and a rug but the car gets priority hehehe

You could do 2 cars and have it back in 4 hrs if ya get stuck in,no probs.

make sure the carpet and the upholstery dry properly.. it may smell nice n fresh for now, but it could end up with foul smell from the semi wet carpet n upholstery.

so what is it? steam and vaccuum together? i mean where does the slimey water come from?

You mix say 100 ml of the cleaning solution with 8 litres of HOT water.

Pour that into the bottom part/bucket of the steam cleaner. When you press the trigger it squirts out the solution and vacumns hard at the same time, sucking all that crap up and into the top collector/bucket of the steam cleaner.

Here's the DIY  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNMAmhGrxR8)

Dude people pay that much for a exterior wash and a minor interior detail.

IMO Cleaning your carpets to THIS level is worth the 20-50 bucks you will spend + the Beer.

Remembering once you steam clean the carpets it smells a shizzle load better :)

Cheers SHO!

Can't wait to jump in there after work and smell the fressness all the way home :)

It's definately all dry,I left the windows down in the sun for 2 hours. Now it needs a vacumn cause dirt came in the windows! Doh! :)

24-02-2009, 09:22 PM
Oh,hello Sir :)

No pics but it was dirty and now it's clean :)

I'll get some pics up of the rear seat installed soon as.It looks awesome,I'm so impressed...and it weighs bugger all! My EK1 rear seat is heavy as cause it's got a quite a bit of metal in it because of the folding motion i.e. it folds down.

Oh I've fallen in Love with your car btw :p

A DIY would have been good, just to show how simple and effective it is to do.Pictures say a thousand words...

No,you will need to buy some leather upholstery cleaner for that. You can use this for your carpets though.

To come! Busy workin' atm...

Sherweeeny, when you asked about leather,I didn't realise that it's suede on my rear seat (just bought it...).I obviously used the steam cleaner on that and it worked no worries.

Also, you must use HOT water, since it's a 'steam cleaner'.I forgot to say that but I have edited the previous post.

He Hoover's it all up with his BIG ears :D

If you have Suede leather, you could just do like I did and hire the steam cleaner from Woolworths/coles.But if it's normal leather an leather upholstery cleaner is the go.'DaveXR8' on here will have a good product to clean leather with I'm sure.

beeza! what did u do to ur rear door trim ??
wonder how u open it from inside =.=..... lol..

aniway very niceseats!! and clean interior! looking new again!!did u get the carpet clean under the mid floor bar?

beeza
27-02-2009, 02:13 PM
Thanks Dahon! The EK4 seats do match the rear seat though cause it has that meshing on the EK4 seats like the rear seat and there's red in both,so it does work.

Yes,I don't see why it wouldn't work on recaro's,I mean as long as they are material, not leather,it will work!

040501912 - hehe,I stripped it all off and primed and painted it black. You can still use the electric window. Then sick ya hand out the window and open it from the outside :)
You can actually open it from the inside, there's the door latch button in the door itself,if you know where it is,it's easy but passengers won't know.
I rarely have passengers in the back but it's great to have a good rear seat in there now.

Yeah.I was able to get everywhere with the steam cleaner head!!

Thanks mate and I will do!! :)

The pics are up Chunky OR did U want some pics of workin' up a sweat? :)

Also the rear seat is a 'db8r rear seat'.
It's just 2 pieces and it's really light.
No problems with fitting,it fit's perfect.
There's just a small bracket on the car where your lower back would be,it's for the folding of the EK1 seat, the db8r dosen't fold.I just smashed it off with a hammer and screwdriver, easy as!! :)

beeza
27-02-2009, 03:32 PM
Here's the bracket that I smashed off.

When Dahon installed his,he cut a hole in the rear cushion for it.
