Does anyone know if I can get a connection where my ipod works, where I can skip the songs via sterring wheel etc. as well as the info coming on the screen.
As at the moment I only have a cord which fits into the auxillary compatment where changing the songs has to be controlled via the ipod

Dunno how yours is connected but I had the Honda Ipod Interface installed by the Dealer and I can control songs skip via the steering wheel controls. I can also change playlists via the button on the dash. I have the Euro luxury not the sat/nav.

I have the same as Euromax. Steering wheel and dash controls for iPod, but actual iPod controls don't work when plugged in (which makes sense). Unfortunately, at least in the standard Euro (different screen to Luxury), no Ipod information is displayed.

Does the Luxury display any info related to the iPod, such as track name or playlist name?

Luxury does not display track or playlist names as well. Just shows up as CDC 1 to 9 for playlists and track numbers. And you're right..when you connect the Ipod to the Ipod Interface cable you lose controls of your Ipod schroll wheel and buttons...your control from that point on is taken over by the car stereo controls.

I thought the SatNav model wasn't compatible with the iPod adapter from Honda.

that what I thought... I'm using AUX in for my iphone atm, and it works ok... the only trouble is to skip/select songs and if I want to put cold drinks on the compartment :( so back to 6xCDs for me

I believe the US model comes with all this, but ours got chopped (like many other features).

I'm not sure of the compatibility of installing theirs in ours though - would be interested if you could.

That would force me to actually buy an ipod (which i swore i'd never do) if it allowed charging, steering control, not needing custom playlists (ie HON01) and displaying of track info on the screen.

Lysp, you are right. I just went to http://www.acura.com/Features.aspx?model=TSX&context=Audio+_+Communication#usb_interface_with_i pod_integration and it clearly states 'Track and folder information appears on the center display to simplify music search and selection. '

Why don't we get that? Does it cost Honda any more to have such electronic functionality? It is not as though they are even making it available as an option.

It is the sort of thing that will come with the next update, but it will be reverse-compatible?

Try TSXClub.com I read someone installing an after market ipod adapter and got id3 tag display and so on, on a CU2.

Its all about Honda Australia making stupid profit margins. When distributors negotiate prices with the factory all the options, pro's and con's are considered. Honda Australia decide only what THEY think we need and it's all based around yes, you guessed it, profit.

Yes as a few have said before. Honda Australia make stupid decisions about accessories/features to leave out to "dumb down" the Oz models. On a $40,000 ++ it is really dumb thinking, bluetooth is an option with some 'button thing' stuck on the A pillar. That is what H A call integrated!!
iPod integration is possible on Luxury but not if you paid the $4K more for the sat nav version.. what the!! these guys are beyond belief.... Honda Australia need some new people at the top with brains and some vision. Gee it must really cost sooo much more to include these items as standard features in a "luxury" vehicle...

I think its the Europeans that have the issue with Ipod and the sat nav option, as they also have RDS. As we don't get this option in Oz I believe a connector is available at the back of the unit (eg CD a stacker, Ipod, etc.)

How perfect are those features :(

Does that just mean Track number and/or Folder Number? What would be nice is actual Track names

I managed to find a photo of the sat-nav version:

http://satoauto.com/images/TSX_2009_17_lg.jpg

That'd be enough to convince me to pay the extra few grand for that version.

That looks great, if only something like that was available on the CL9

I have just purchased an 09 Black Luxury Navi Euro and got the dealer to install the Honda ipod interface and disappointingly the ipod specific display that is standard on the Acura TSX is missing.

Presumably this is because we always get the crap versions of the vehicles from overseas -> also note that the Acura TSX has a USB compatible audio system ie. it had USB jack standard then you get a ipod converter cable to hook up your ipod. Then on the audio system you'd get Ipod/USB interface on the Acura TSX.

Obviously and sadly our "premium" audio system here don't have this standard so the ipod is just hooked up to the Auxiliary system and the SatNav LCD displays nothing but "Extension"!!!! Very sad

Since also no one / not many people have asked and installed the ipod interface here in Perth the dealer does not have much information on it.
