now chasing info on tyre sizes/brands for 16x6 inch rims
stock profile for the 16s on the model they belong to is a 185/55 R16 but for the speedo to read properly I'd have to go 205/40 R16
any brands ppl would care to share with me, pros and cons, pricing
anywhere between 6"-7.5" would be safe... it really comes down to offset. and if you're not after that bling/dish look, safe would be about +50 to +40. you will unlikely get any kinda rubbing for daily use. tyres make a difference too.
how low is your car?
fyi, i run 16x7.5 +42 (or +45, cant remember) on 205/45/16. Only rub on the rare occasion if i'm quite low and turning hard or turning over bumps.

Atm my car is only dropped 40mm from stock on Koni springs (4wd still in the rear as like most coupes it leans towards the front a bit more than the rear...), but would like a 2-2.5" drop around the entire vehicle in the future once my groundcontrols are installed
so that would be reasonably low... no gaps probably between arches and wheels.
well the specs i gave u would be save for daily, no scrubbing and sits a little better then stock. you can't help scrubbing anyway if your car is low.
maybe some rim preferences might help with your query...

looking at the rota track r atm, unless I can import the rims I want cheaper lol
> i run 16x7.5 +42 (or +45, cant remember) on 205/45/16.
x2. 205/45R16 16x7 +42 on mine.
225/50R16 definitely rubs on standard height suspension.
> would like a 2-2.5" drop around
IMHO that's a bit toooo much.
It'll get a lot of attention from the constabulary, give you limited travel or conversely a very hard ride using stiff suspension.
EK civic's are blessed with double wishbone suspension which can corner very well without the need to slam it.
Try a milder suspension drop with 2.5 degree front negative camber, 1.5 degree rear. Zero toe.
If you think you need more handling, you'd better be at Eastern Creek.
> I’m set on a size of 16”
16" rims are the bastard child of the tyre/rim performance after-market.
You'll have a much better tyre choice in 17" and will achieve your goal of minimizing the fender gap, without the need to drop it so much.
You won't have to throw a pile of cash into a set of G.C. coil overs, either.

cheers Nick,
just my rear is way too high imo... lol
I'm happy with the front, but the coupes just have an ass that needs to be level with the front... lol

Assuming you're after a bit of performance, then
Yokohama AD-07 205/45R16 (Hard to find, $$$).
Falken Azenis RT-615 (Even harder to find, Taleb is the only source AFAIK).
Bridgestone RE-001, well rated on this forum, very available.
Bridgestone RE-01R, top notch performance, top notch price.

bugger, just got off the phone with a Bridgestone rep and those RE-001s are hard to find, but locatable within a wk lol
also not in the size I want 205/40, he can only get 205/45 or 205/55
$200 a tyre, not cheap, good reviews on a few UK sites, anyone else have anything to add

if your saying stock size is 185 55 16, then 205 40 16 is lower by about 40mm in rolling diameter... you sure thats the right size mate? as that difference will definitely throw your speedo out.

I need that size to make my speedo correct
oem EJ8 wheels were 185/60 R14 so the change to 205/40 R16 is what Im actually after for overall correctness of speed at 100kph
stock size on the Jazz (that the wheels belong on is 185/55 R16) shouldve mentioned that earlier

TALEB - the above program says 205/40R16 is fine to keep speedo in line?

your biggest problem is going to be finding a LEGAL load rating...

Ok fair enough,
yes that will be fine for rolling diameter then
( i thought your original was 185/55/16, not 185/60/14).
what is your original load rating btw?
EK1.6LCIV
03-03-2009, 01:54 PM
not sure the existing load rating
but scratching off the Bridgestone's due to lack of wet grip Im after...
and using Falkens instead at a more competitive rate locally
tinkerbell

not sure the existing load rating
it is usually listed on the door jam, and is an easily defectable offence to have a lower load rating than specified...

from memory it should be an 82.
In that case, most 205 40 16 come 83 so its no problem.

the last time I bought from Tempe I was paying a very low rate for decent 17s at the time of purchase of the wheels and tires and Bris was over $700 more for the same package, lol
yea best I got so far was $788 installed for the Falken ZE-912
Bridestone Re-001 were over $800... lol
Maxxis were $10 cheaper, but I did like how the Falken's drove in the wet when I had them yrs ago
> yea best I got so far was $788 installed for the Falken ZE-912

Falken ZE-912 are in a different class of tyre to all the others mentioned. Apples and oranges.
> wish I was in Sydney
Funny, seems everybody here is leaving for SE Queensland.

Bridgestone's continue to get pretty bad reviews as of late, hardly want a loud noisy tyre that's shit in thwe wet like a Khumo lol
I'd be in NSW in a heart beat most weeks for the faster paced work, why are they coming to QLD, lol, shops close here early as, its a pain lol

I hope you didn't get or not going to get genuine jap wheels.
you'd be paying too much for them man.
plus, they will be inferior wheels too.
