hi all,
what warranty will i void if i change the wheels? I understand that it could be anything that relate to wheels... but what are some of it? I really wanna change but i just got the car new. so i am hesitate in changing it and void the 5 years warranty.
I am current have a set of FN2r rims, but i need to get a new set of tyres which will cost me heaps... would i void warranty if i use Fn2r rims? since its honda parts?

If i change the wheels and i bring it into service, would dealer keep a record that i have change the wheels? coz I will be keeping my stock wheels and change it back when i want to resell the car, if they keep the record then no point keeping the stock wheels then?

thanks

You've been a member on a car forum since April 2008, and you've probably owned cars before that......and you don't know how to change a wheel?

oh wow.........

sorry geeang, you are wrong... i never own my own car before, I just drive other people lolz.

and as I said just drive it never really maintain it etc, so there still lots to learn :)

so i guess its not hard to change wheels then?

It is really quiet simple to change wheels and all the tools you really need are already in the car (in the boot)

lol ok... so you all do this when you go into service? or you just don't care lolz.

ok another noob question... by changing wheels... i won't stuff up any wheels alignment or anything like that? so both 18" and 15" have the same setting??

Your wheel alignment may get messed up (really depends, ive heard of things supporting both sides of the debate)

But what would you rather? Spending 20 bucks on a wheel alignment (maybe more depending where you go) or being warranty risks?

well i been hearding that dealers will try to relate anything to it. e.g. wheels to suspension to cd player etc..

mate, if ur worried. just go ahead and change it back to stock rims everytime u go in for a service, it really isnt that hard, u just gotta jack the car up on each corner when u do it... id say thats the hardest part. and don't get fussed about a wheel alignment, like shogun said.. its pety cash compared to the warranty issues ur worried about.

now i am worries that the wheels won't fit probably... coz it has +55 offset.

55 offset will sink the rims in more... LESS offset would be a problem... what width and what size? and what tyres?

well for my mini cooper, i changed the crappy stock 15" into 17" AMG in the second year, and BMW never said a damn thing about it.
as if replacing your gear knob will void the warranty.

they can knock back wheel hub, bearing, driveshafts for warranty, as you are putting more load on them.

dealers don't say anything.
unless you ask the question.
and if a part does fail, eg. wheel bearing, they will say, the wheels have put accelerated wear on that part, causing it to fail.
of course it all depends, how big you go.
