Anyone heard of NPR or Nippon Piston Ring pistons? Any good? Looking at cheap cast pistons to get a H22A running.

npr pistons and rings are used by heaps of people in the us. although my experience with them are on d series engines, i can tell u that they're quite good and im yet to come across anybody who has encountered problems using them

are the ycp pistons better?

YCP pistons are made from a much more strong cast (AC8a Grade)
-T-6 Heat treated for even greater strength.
-Highly resistant to heat.
-Dual oil holes to provide better Wrist Pin Lubrication.
-Teflon coating to provide smoother running, increase piston life,
improve cylinder sealing for less blow by and more power, reduce
friction.
-Help prevent damage from inadequate lubrication, Especially
during cold start-ups

ycp pistons are definately better, due to material and teflon coating

would u recommend npr pistons in a b18c?

my motors almost ready to go in, but i was wondering, do i really need a VAFCII with these pistons? everything else is standard

NRP are actually the japanese made ones unlike the YCP pistons ;)
11.1:1cr with this combo, note that this is being run off a b16a ecu.

at the very least VAFC tuned by a good honda tuner, esp now that you are spending the bucks building a motor with type R CR, if budget allows pwr fc is much better still but at least the VAFC would get your motor running safely.
just slapping an engine in with a stock ECU not even suited to your motor is very common WA ricer way of life, it's good to break that tradition LOL.
