Dunno if anyone's been to the Melbourne Motor Show yet, but they had the Civic Si (limited Edition) 4dr Hatch on display. expected to arrive in April-May with a price nearby Type-R, but the greatest shocker was on the tech-specs it had a normal Civic Engine !! (1.8L , 103Kw) .. Why Honda Why ?
Although the inetrior & features matched/outclassed Type-R

The Si is powered by the same 1.8-litre SOHC four-cylinder i-VTEC engine as most Civic sedan variants. It produces 103kW and 174Nm and runs on 91 RON fuel. Gearbox choices are a six-speed manual or five-speed auto

Why do we get a lower-spec Si , whereas Americans get to drive a 2.0L 147Kw ? http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-si-sedan/

i dont believe its a limited edition, it will be part of the lineup!
its just goin to be very limited production.

we will sell them all, most people come into the showroom, see the type R and say oh i wish it was auto!

the women will love this car.

it will sell.

but yes, id rather the sport with 2.0 and sunroof, but on the Si the looks win handsdown and thats what will sell it.

Err.. its a cooking model. Haven't you been paying attention?

Did I miss something in that article because I saw nothing that outclassed the R.

Because that is their bootleg equivalent of an actual Type R. All the yanks do is moan that they don't get a real Type R, but here we (well some of us) moan because the Type R comes in manual only.

At least, I assume that is the reason why you are so hot for the cooking model.

Lets hope the boat load of these sink so all you soccer mums can go out and buy a nice FD like you know you should.

"The Type R was updated with a limited slip differential, a tyre deflation warning system, parking sensors and an Aux jack for MP3. Pricing rises a hefty $2000 to $41,990."

New civic si pricing:

6 speed manual: $38,990
5 speed auto: $41,290

plus on road costs.

Great price for a civic i reckon they'll sell maybe 1 car.

Thats what i said to myself, Honda have no idea what they are doing. The first thing they should look at is the CEO of Honda in Japan. He sold the Honda F1 team to BrawnGP for 1GBP and Honda are still paying the bill for this years championship. As soon as he sold it the car comes good. Idiot.
They sold it because they wanted to save money.

Now with the civic si, i would have bought one in an instant, but not at that price. Now i might think of getting an Accord Euro, or keeping my 07 Jazz for a while longer. If they wanted to sell the Civic SI you would think they would price it at around the Civic sport sedan. The auto is only a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Civic Type R. Something is not right there.

Yeah. So nothing to do with dropping the Honda engine? LOL

Unfortunately they will sell tons of these SI POS. Too many people love the shape but can't drive manual - Any reason why you are not looking at the Type R? - Every time I went shopping for my Type R, some spastic was always talking to a sales guy asking why it didn't come in auto.

I understand them bringing in the Auto version... but why would they bother bringing in a Manual one? Either save 5-7k to buy a Civic Sport in Man or buy a Type R.
