me and a respected member have had a discussion and we ruled it as head gasket , but now ive got clear evidence of the rubber mat gone green

will do in sec just got out shower,
ya just read up on Google , seems as if its the heater core , but the heaters never worked in this car i assume there's no heater core but it reaches operating temperature the engine,
due to we purchased it from a really really dodgy car yard thats why i assume theres no heater core
cheers

heater core or heater hoses.
First thing check the heater hoses in the engine bay where they connect to the firewall.
If its not that you would need to possibly pull the dash out and check the condition of the heater core.
Hot coolant runs from your engine and through a heater core which is used for heating your car. The fan blows over the hot coolant in the core and it spreads the heat through the interior via the vents.
It will be pretty obvious where the leaks coming from if you have everything apart as coolant leaks a white powdery looking stain wherever it leaks.

ok
1 thing i dont get is this
i never ever run heater, so the heater core "tap" should have been shut off if u get what i mean

Yes it should but it doesnt mean it works..there's usually no hoses within the cabin.
Best thing to do if you dont have hours or lots of $$ is to block it off, especially if you dont use heater.
Remove the hoses in the enigine bay and bypass it totally, so there is no coolant running into the car!

ok cool , im just selling the car, so im not sure if that will be a "resale' put down

Whats probably happened is that by not using the heater at all (since you're in Surfers) the heater core has corroded and leaked.
Best bet is to block off the two inlet/outlet points at the engine block.

Thanks guys ,
ive decided to clamp of the hoses and just leave the broken heater core , im lazy + selling the car
whats the chance theyl find out i did a dodge repair ?

Chance is likely. You should let it be known theres a heating issue with the car upon sale IMO.
You will not get a car past RWC (here in Vic at least) without being able to demist your front windscreen so it prob wont pass an inspection.
Looping the hoses is definately a simple solution to removing a leak in the heater core. I would do it on my own car if i were in that situation but i dont care too much for heat.

im in S.A , no RWC's only when cops pull you over and reckon its unroad worthy
the heater barley worked any way , duno i need to get as much as i can from this car sale ,but i dont want no heater putting the value down

im losing my mind , just plugged up each pipe , with some "bolts" from local car store only thing i could find
car is currently leaking coolant , went for a 1hour drive parked , found a big puddle
i then parked it on clean surface and bent over , and its pissing out , but thing is , its cold coolant , maybe its all coolant from the heater core coming out , i duno plz hep

Try taking it to a mechanic.

LOL geeang , bangbus as car , thats what we call mine
come on man , its not that hard to block of a hose , ozhonda thought me to change a clutch in a D16, im sure we could do this , i can feel it
update , just tightened the hose clamp due to was only hand tight with extension bar now its a few turns , lets prey
sorry to bitch , it just hurts this van is falling to pieces the O rings have now gone as well , its only got 140K km , and my mums only driven it A-B no flogging , same here

What O-rings?
If the coolant was cold and the car had been running at operating temp, it prob was just the heater core emptying out as there would be quiet a bit of coolant in there after pulling off the hoses.
The bolt + hose clamp trick will work aslong as you use an adequate bolt.

if you just block it wont it cause a huge pressure buildup causing small leeks to appear at any minor fault in the cooling system?

Fixed
next up is piston rings or whatever, or head work , due to blows smoke loads its oil for sure
cheers for help all good now

Just remember:
Black smoke = burning fuel.
White smoke = burning coolant.
Blue smoke = burning oil (which is BAD).

The cooling system is already under pressure. The heater core isnt a pressure relief. Your overflow tank is in system for the excess coolant to flow to.

ya its blue smoke , bad i know , me n mate will get engine crane n "strip" it, shouldn't be to hard
cheers for the help about the heater core

What are you getting an engine crane and stipping it for?
Are you now scrapping the thing, i thought you wanted it running.
Changing a set of piston rings definately isnt a job for a beginner. You will end up spending a fortune on tools aswell to get the thing done.

maybe , im selling it , if thicker oil dont work , il take it to a mates and ya
but i reckon some 20/50 should stop it , due to only 10/30 is in there atm

the thicker oil is worth a try i guess.
I dont understand what you need an engine crane for.

BTW. My g/f's old hyundai excel was burning the oil like you wouldnt believe. Almost emptied itself in 1-2 months.
I was going to throw a set of new piston rings in it (i was keen to pull the engine down and have a go). I already have an engine crane and stand.
It cost the same price for another used motor as it did for the overhaul kit required to fix up her issue. I just threw another motor into it and the motor ran fine after that (the trans was a different story though).
Either way, it's a big expensive job most likely.
