hi,

so im a huge noob when it comes to EG civics, as i have only recently became into them. I always read things such as 'oh i have an EG5, its better then your EG6 and EG4' (exaggeration) and things similar. How many versions of these EG's are there ? EG 1-6 ? also which versions of EG civic are fuel injected and which are carby? does one out perform the other ?

cheers

EG6 is arguably the best one... its the import one with the b16a (dohc vtec) standard
EG5 is the next best, the best aussie delivered versions with the d16y1 (sohc vtec) and d16a8 (dohc non-vtec)

spoons eg6 is a example of the best u can get and rarest in colour imo

Your spoon EG6 doesn't even make sense.

Spoon never released EG6's, they modified them.

And they modified many colours, Blue, white, Yellow etc.

f0cking Lan you lost kient lol

I totally agree with 90LAN.

EG's are grocery getters or a great daily driver.
That is unless you wanna swap out the engine, there are endless possibilities for this chassis IMO.

Ive met alot of people over time who think a standard EG is a fast/track car. I think the fast and the furiouos made people think they were more than they are lol.
This is not the case.

I have a 1992 EG4 (GL, dual-carb originally).

yes, sorry i musnt of mentioned it.. i am planning to swap the engine out to a b18c/b18cr or a b16a? any pro's and cons ? cheers

all pros :D light car, torque filled engine = fast reliable daily

get a manual vti version for the easy in fuel delivery (has efi)

krogoth
05-03-2009, 01:52 PM
^y not just get a gli, the 1.5sohc non-vtec?

cheaper to buy, esp if u gona get a b18 or something later

Paul1985
05-03-2009, 02:22 PM
-vti if you want a sunroof and power options (sunroof = weight though).
-si if you want a lighter car (think it has no srs/power options etc. This would be my pick personally
-gli pretty much vti without the sunroof (similar options anyways).

breeze = non-efi, need to swap out fuel system to EFi for a b18 swap.
gl = non-efi also, same as breeze.

The things i would consider when wanting to get an EG car for a build are:
-do i want srs?
-do i want power options?
-do i want a sunroof?
-do i want a manual/auto?

From there you should look into any good condition efi model IMO, whether it be gli/vti/si.

If not doing an engine swap i'd go si or vti, similar power. Just depends whether you want vtec or non-vtec.

im pretty sure my current eg is a 4 n its a d15b (1.5l injected)
my last one was a breeze.. wow never get one.
it was a pov pack edition so no air con elec windows etc and it had a 1.3l carby motor!!
hahahaha
stock wise eg6 is the go, but you can modify what you have to make it better!
if your going to swap engines you could always go a gli (like mine) to save money on the start costs..
modified cars are costly.. im finding that out the hard way, if you think your going to spend 5, keep 10!!

bossy_civic
05-03-2009, 04:21 PM
and i would personally go the red one, less kms, good value for money and it has a sunroof!!
id kill for a sunroof :(

Sunroofs are over rated..

I never opened it when it was too cold, and when it was hot, I opened it and it just put more heat inside the car with the sun blazing into my eyes..

Roof is also lower on a VTi, my hair used to touch the roof when I sat in my old VTi!

And to answer your question,

EG3 = EG Breeze 1.3l single carby, manual mirrors, manual windows, no air con
EG4 = EG GLi 1.5l EFi motor, electric mirrors, electric windows, air con
EG4 = EG GL 1.5l twin carby motors, electric mirrors/windows, air con
EG5 = EG Si 1.6l DOHC full options including rear discs
EG5 = EG VTi 1.6l SOHC VTAK YO, full options including rear discs and sun roof

Fastest out of all of them ?

Theyre all slow, but if you were to track/drag them all, the Si will be ontop purely due to the DOHC motor.

I'm assuming you just wanted info on the hatchbacks ?

yes mate just the hatchbacks.. exactly what i was looking for. thanks to all for the great replys :) cant wait to get a civic n finally come for a cruisee !

Now to the business lol.. i pretty much defo want power steering (unless it takes up way too much power ? i want power windows, mirrors dont phase me electric or non, sunroof wouldnt really phase me although i do like the idea of one, i want EFI and finally i DEFINATELY want air conditioning! i will need rear disks eventually when i get an engine swap wont i ? or not really ? um do they call them breeze because thats all the cooling you get ?? lolll cheers all

They all have power steering to start off with.

You will need rear discs if you want a engine swap yes.

If you want full performance (meaning less weight etc) then go for a Si, they are slightly cheaper then the VTi (due to non vtec and no sunroof!) but they have a better DOHC motor in them anyway.

If you want abit of show AND go, then go for the VTi purely just for the sunroof.

Going by what you say, you would clearly want a VTi over a Si anyway.

VTi and Si are the only ones that come out with rear discs!

Paul1985
05-03-2009, 08:07 PM
tiksie is right.

better off going for the vti or si straight up. That way you got the best EG available in stock form and you have much easier engine swap options if you ever go that route.

Do not be fooled though, a stock EG is not fast lol.

personal import after owning it overseas for a min of 12 months, the costs associated make it not worth it, unless you're an avid collector with cash to burn imo

EG9 in Europe was known as a VTi and was slighly different in spec to the JDM version. As far as I know European version had the 119kW B16A (same as our EK VTiR) versus the JDM versions 125kW B16A. I think the European version also missed out on a few other things like the rear wiper for example.
