Recently a friend brought a new Honda city VTIL for $25500 drive away, which includes floor mats, paint protection, tinted windows and the usual 6 months rego etc.

Just curious to see what other members have been able to buy the 'city' for?

Mine was Automatic (also as i said in the other thread...and sorta hinted that in this but to be clear)

Oh also, mine is White so minus $350 or whatever it costs for metallic paint...not that that really matters, I just like the white...

just out of curiosity, do any of u know how much the modulo accessories cost, I just like to calculate my budget before I go out and buy one of these.

Im looking more for the full body kit (grille, side, front, rear, spoiler and 16" rims)

i didn't ask specifically but the guy said around 3k or was it 2k... all i knew is that it was wayy out of my budget.

Has anyone else managed to get a VTI-L or VTI in auto? If so how much did u guys get it for?

Im just wondering if i got ripped off.

Hey clairegirl, seeing as I had time on my hands the following is the breakdown of what pple (incl. urself) have purchased their cars for so far:
City VTi-L Black Auto $27,600 incl. floor mats and premium black/white lic plates (clairegirl)
City VTi-L White Auto $26,500 incl. floor mats (Tsuska)
City VTi-L Black Manual $25,500 incl. floor mats, paint protection, tinted windows and 6 months rego (game_accord)
Standard quote by Dealers has been said (Tofu) to be:
City VTi-L (no met. paint) Manual $28,000 with no optional extras

Has anyone picked up their new car (not a Dealer demo) yet? I signed for my car over 2 wks ago and now it seems I'll have to wait another couple of weeks until my car arrives into town.. apparently it was something to do with Honda having to manually match pple with their cars?? As wonderful as it is driving a Dealer's car, it's getting to be a drag... ><

Wow Tsuska, got a great price! Can I ask which dealer you got yours at? Was it a demo model?

I should have gotten it tomorrow but now they're pushing it till maybe Saturday or maybe next Wednesday.

Honestly, i didn't realize getting a new car would take so long! You left yourself out in the list aznempress

Funny how the Honda reps here push that the City is a boyz car and the Jazz is a girlz car, yet the girls are snapping up the City. Arf.

Nice pick up girlz. Be sure to post pics of your new babies when you get 'em

Hey Guys!! I am one of the lucky "boys" to have the new Honda City 2009.
bought it the second week it came out, at "John Blair Honda" and I was there first customer to drive out with one.

Here is what i got:
VTI-L Auto $27 K drive away, with mats and slim line plates and also additional 3 year dealership warranty (making the car warranted for 6 years all up).
It was the best deal i got between 3 dealerships (incl. Berwick New World, Garry and Warren Smith Oakleigh and Courtney and Patterson Heidelberg). I was lucky enough to get mine not more then 14 days after signature.

Ive had after market tint and sensors installed too. - they enhance looks and security respectively. Way way wayyyyy cheaper then having honda put them in, same people who Honda outsource to anyway.

Also, don't get sucked in by any of the paint protection gimmicks. I did a lot of research, and its just that a money making gimmick on the dealerships part. Even the person who sold me the car, and doesn't work at the aftermarket department, advised me not to get it - cos it's a "gimmick". Just spend a bit of money on some Meguiars cleaning products and take good care of your car. :D

So far Ive driven 1200km in just over 2.5 weeks. fuel mileage is good, and apparently, will only get better, atm 7.6L/100km (you will never match the brochure stats, as those are done under controlled conditions - but they don't mention that do they?!?). I have a freekin alloy rash, about .5 of an inch on the left front outer rim,, arrrrrgh - will get that fixed soon. Also the smallest of stone chips on the bonnet near the windscreen washers. I will see if Honda can help me out with that.

Don't likes:thumbdwn:: Is yes, there is a bit of scream from the engine above 3Krpm, but it will quieten down over the next 5K, says the Honda people. But also, there is a healthy "vtec" scream when you jump to 80-100km/hr and then push it some more - you get that boost everyone knows a vtec gives.
Also, the premium cloth, mannn:( does every dust and hair stick to it! So its handy to have one of those Roman Lint Brushes in the boot, with your other cleaning products. Or get a seat cover, which is what im doing. Custom fitted. heheheh

Likes:thumbsup:: Everything about the car. It is so the new hot mid size sedan out there!!!!!, eats the mazda 3 imo, but when they release the new model in June, it will be a different story. The Ipod connector is awesome!!!!!!!

Anyway, enjoy the city guys and gals!!!!
My baby is hot!!!, will post pics soon.

Thank you. There is not other grille like that out on the streets atm. So please steer clear of getting the modulo grille for now - if you are thinking about it. The stock grille is so hot no?!? :) Anyway, yes mine was in stock. I think each dealer here in melbourne has around 10 cars in stock - 1/2 of each colour and in VTI and VTI-L.

Yeah the stock City grille is HOT to Trot. I really like it. I'm not fan of the Modulo grille to be honest.

Yeah, the AUS Spec City just like the Jazz is not the same. Quite strange as they are both made in Thailand and the Thai Spec City and Jazz have more offerings... pretty lame on Honda Australia's part.

Both the City & 3 are nice cars.

The Mazda 3 probably has that bit more go to it. Being fully imported from Japan also is a bonus.

Comparing both base models, probably Mazda 3 has better value.

Having said that the City is a new face and looks great.

yeah completely agree that mazda is a better car overall (.. it definately has more zoom zoom) hehe... however it didn't suit my current or future lifestyle to have a 2.0L car

In terms of looks, i think i like my city better even though it is a bit more masculine looking, the mazda has more curves (feminine) hrrmm i can't make up my mind! lol

Hi all

I haven't posted here much at all but have been a reader of the pages of Ozhonda for quite some time. I am no newcomer to Honda's and have owned 8 in the last 20 odd years most being of the old school variety.

I am awaiting delivery of my new car a Honda City VTi-L which will hopefully arrive this week before easter. I got a pretty good deal from Blue Ribbon motors at Ipswich. A lot of the Honda dealers just simply didn't want to offer me their best price which resulted in them losing a sale and possibly future sales from my family.

I got a VTi-L in white with floor mates and mud flaps for $25 100 drive away. I was originally looking at silver with the modulus kit but they wouldn't go any lower than 28k on the dot which was more than i wanted to spend. I will prolly get most of the kit later on anyway as I have a mate who works for a Honda dealership in spare parts and can get me the kit for $2300(front & rear lip, grille, side skirts and rear spoiler) which is a lot cheaper than retail.

I'll post some pics once this thing arrives and the few little extra's i plan on doing to it as well.

cheers

Hey Silvabullit!. I guess you gonna have to change that to Whitebullit with your City coming in!?!?! :D

Well got a phone call today and nobody in australia has a white VTI-L manual!!! Bugger. anyhow looks like I am going to go with silver(my original colour choice) as they can get me one. So I guess silvabullit will now be appropriate LOL

Mudflaps aint cheap!! Like $215 but they do come colour coded.

AznEmpress I can think of a lot or usefull accessories for the City but they are all only available through Honda so you know they are not going to be cheap!!

I think Honda Australia is really stuffing up the inauguration of the City into the OZ car industry!.
Indeed, the recession will play its part. But if the Mazda 3 sells well, which is still questionable, despite the success of the previous model, considering the economies status, I wonder if Honda will drop the prices of the City.

From what i have heard from every dealer i went to. Apparently, the prices that we have paid for are special "discounted" introductory prices. And that they will go up like another couple percent once the car has been soundly introduced into the market. The accuracy of the claim is questionable, considering the only down-part to the city, according to most reviews, is its current pricing.

Anybody have any viable information about all this hooha??!

So I guess silvabullit will now be appropriate LOL

Indeed! If you look at other asian Honda websites. (heres the philippines one) i.e.http://www.citychangetherules.com/
They have a gun metal grey color, which would totally look hot if you were going for that silverish look.
As usual, OZ Honda has picked crap generic colors. Not to mention, the fact that the "Asian" City has better VTI-L specs then the Oz one, and that they're pricing is much, much more competitive to the market which the Car ought to be in! Ah..

AznEmpress I can think of a lot or usefull accessories for the City but they are all only available through Honda so you know they are not going to be cheap!!
silver's hot anyway.

I saw a red city VTI-L the other day... i think it's the ugliest red colour i've ever seen. It's practically maroon.

I also saw a black VTI :) it looks hot ... not that im biased ;)

Well, I've been advised that my car's finally hit town. SHOULD be picking it up at the close of the week, just in time for Easter partyin' & cruzin' ^^

silvabullit - it seems that the VTi-L's are low on the manual kind and overstocked on the Auto sort, although there are plenty of VTi's in manual... did they say where in the country they were sourcing your car from?

I've only seen 2 City's cruzin' our streets thus far, the white VTi I was driving 2 wks ago, and a black VTi I spotted just over a week ago... so it's gonna be EPIC gettin' my car.. FINALLY! Lol..

They were sourcing the entire country LOL. Like you said plenty of VTI's in manual but not VTI-L's.

the silver VTI-L I am gettting is also coming from interstate. They are wearing the freight charge too. And so they should!!

you should look at pics of the neutral/mirorr-like tints clairegirl. they tend to suit black cars better, in experts' opinions - apparently the whole point of the tint is to create contrast. So i guess they dont think black on black look good!!. But its up to you. Black and black would look ok i think, and then get the window trims upgraded to the chrome borders. OMG hott!:D

Hey all

After much anticipation, I finally gained delivery of my baby boy lastnite at 6pm!!! (0_o) Lol..

FYI for all those who've been eagerly awaiting disclosure on my purchase price..
I got myself a VTi-L in black, manual, 12 months rego, floor mats, and towbar... for just under $25k. On top of that, I had a loan City VTi White Auto to drive around in for the first week, and a Civic Hybrid for the remaining 2.5 weeks... I also got a Honda Teddy Bear and Honda Racing hat to match. [It's all about the gimmicks ;)]

Although my towbar hasn't been fitted (due to be complete on Tuesday - apparently my tow's going to be one of the first to go on a City ^^) you could say I'm very, very, VERY happy with my sales team, mostly the GM. The detailing team on the otherhand.. not so much.. but anywhoz, we'll see how I feel after the towbar's been fitted to my baby boy.

I think the sales process highlight was that they gave me donuts, coffee and cake in the two times I was in talking to them.. c/o the GM.

Epic Awesomeness!

Have a fab long w'end all!!!

Congratulations AznEmpress.

More importantly, how cute is the Honda Teddy Bear? If it is really cute i would most likely take it home, but if its a average looking, flimsy bear then i will pass.

Random: I just drove my City on pure free way and guess what.. got it down to 4.8l/100kms haha

as soon as we started driving suburban though for about 20 minutes, it went up to 6.0l/100kms

*Sigh, i absolutely love my baby*... has anyone else noticed that their city just glides at around 60kms/ph? i drove it to palm beach the other day with all its twists and turns and the city just glides and stays at the 60kms. Certainly has to be the Vtec kicking in.

Damm that is hell cheap to get a VTI-L with metallic paint, mats and tow bars under 25K. Only way I could get a car under 25K without extra's was to go white.

But well done nonetheless!! Pick mine up tomorrow!!

We went on a cruz with other OzHonda's up Mt Tambie and round the GC yestdy. Must say he handles well in wet conditions.. and yes, I was pretty cautious takin the U-bends & such :p Considering it was pouring half the time on our Mtn run I saw it as being 'better safe than sorry'. Lol..

I expect I'll post up pic's of my boy and the mtn cruzers later this week.

Well no pics yet as my computer's hard drive has crashed(using wife's laptop) but car is going good. Wife loves it with all the knick knacks etc etc. Am awaiting a reply with regards to getting springs made to suit. Someone has to be the guinea pig LOL Looked into wheels and tyres but after speaking to a mate who has been a Honda Service workshop foreman for nearly 30 years said don't do it. He is seeing a lot of Jazz's coming in with power steering failures. The electronically controlled rack and pinion doesn't like the extra load generated by wider rims and tyres and causes them to fail. Let's say some warranty claims are not being accepted because of the aftermarket rims and wider tyres. Back to the drawing board on that one.

Will be getting some more accessories in the next week or so. Also have done some investigating into the possibility of making a cold air intake.... Stay tuned!!

Will get some pics up when I can.

Jeez people getting some great prices here! I went to my local dealer, and so far they are offering a trade on my 06 Swift of $8500 and then pay 17 300 from memory.

And yes, I was told by the salesmen that the City's price right now is an introductory! That's hilarious seeing as yes the car is a bit overpriced at the moment.

AznEmpress

Introductory? Probably meaning the price will DROP soon. Lol..
I reckon I could've gotten a better price than what I did get if I'd talked more.. mmm..

Took one for a test drive today, nice car but didn't make me want to get rid of my current one any time soon. As soon as we sat down the salesman offered me roughly $25k driveaway on an auto VTi and he also said that there will be a 3% price RISE on the 1st May.

1st April they went up $1100 hence why I ordered on the 30th :) I must have done well to get VTI-L manual with metallic paint, mud flaps and floor mats for $25100 drive away!! Also got extended warranty as well for 2 years/40 000km's for a few hundred cheaper as well.

Will get some pics soon I promise!! I have added aftermarket rubber mats over the factory carpet ones to try and keep them clean as my house is being renovated atm. also bought the rubber boot liner and boot/bumper scuff guard plus the sports pedal set which I am yet to fit. Next will be door sills, chrome window garnishes!!

Great having a mate who works at Honda!!

I got mine for 27400 including carpets, pedals, and the modulo kit. i don't know if it's overpriced, but I'm pretty satisfied with what the deal.
