Burning smell when hitting vtec

hey guys, i'm got a '98 dc2, and there's always a really strong burning smell whenever i hit vtec. what can be the problem?

The only known leak is a minor leak in the rear main seal for the gear box, which will be fixed soon (still saving up the cash for it).

please advise!

Probably find that with your rear main leak, oil has gotten onto the clutch assy and when your into it or hitting vtec as you put it, the clutch is slipping/burning and giving you that bad smell, might be simple like cleaning it up when the seal is done, or, replacing your clutch while your there.
