Hi All,

Can anyone shed some light in relation to the following;

- Honda ECU udpates / Transmission Updates.
Are these performed at Honda when you get a service?

In some previous cars that I have had; namely Barina / Astra / Vectra each time I would go to Holden, they would generally have an update for the ECU and Transmisson that was done via TECH2.

These update were re-calibrations of the DBW / Timing / Shift Points etc.

Do Honda Service have a similar facility to update / recalobrate etc?

The reason why I ask, is I asked this of a service advisor at my Local Dealership and he told me they can not do this and never have!

What is everyone elses experience with this?

Open for discussion...

Honda doesn't do this unless there was a specific problem that they had to solve through an ECU update.

Not sure if this is true or not - but I remember not so long ago James from Jtune said that Honda dealers in Australia do not have the equipment to reflash an ECU at the dealership itself.

lol most honda dealers dont even know they have the equipment for an ECU reflash...

so i very much doubt theyd have the equipment (or know they do) to reflash your ECU :thumbsup:

So say for example I felt that I had excessive fuel consumption, or the vehicle felt sluggish / erratice shifting (5spd Auto) would this be something that they could check through fault codes? Then update / access as required?

They will check for fault codes. That's it. If there is no update issued by Honda Australia, then there is nothing that the dealer can update your ECU with. At most, they will clear the short and long term fuel trims (which you can do yourself by unplugging the negative terminal of the battery for a few seconds)
