Having your information filled would help me answer your first question.

Secondly It depends on budget, but if you do your homework (rather then be spoon fed) you will be able to decide HOW MUCH performance you want (for your $'s)

^ Aris has a valid point.

5k will get you a b16a comfortable, pushing for a b18c model and b16b not sure but don't think 5k will get it in. b16a fetch for around 3k now a days good engines, you can also b20 it later on but 5k looking at b16a + install, gg

too many variables where u get the motor
what cond is it in and who will do the work for u
get some quotes then go from there
b16a 3-4k labour 1-2k
b16b 4-6k labour 1-2k
b18c 3-5k labour 1-2k
b18cr 5-7k labour 1-2k
these are eng packages or front cuts
because how long is a piece of string

install roughly about 1k last I heard, but you have to cater for other mishaps to the engine, say seals, clutch, bearings, ect. you don't throw an engine that's been sitting in a warehouse for 3 years into a car and expect it to run smooth off the mark, shit happens so 5k will get you comfortable into a b16a, b18b and maybe b18c 1/2 out of a vti-r

well he only has 5k, what else is recommended at that price + installation and all the crap with a 2nd hand motor ? not ideal but very achievable with his budget and more smiles than the D series he has under the hood

MrSlpa

MrSlpa

hondar

if i were you i will get b18c type r. b16a to be honest, has no torque. most honda owners love torque because b16a engine lack torque on low end of rpm

b18c type r gives better torque than 1.6l engine, though it will not beat a bigger cc engine in terms of torque. ie the bigger the cc the bigger engine torque.

if money is still lacking, continue saving. do it first time right. doing mods is an expensive excercise.

what is going in the install? Honda engines/parts are expensive, sounds like the normal price to me

myself I like to get parts new, so I'd simply for me double whatever budget is there for it, lol

MrSlpa

b18cr engine

tiksie
10-03-2009, 01:24 PM
That sounds about right.

How many km's has the engine/box done ?

B16A2 = $4500
B18C2 = $6000
B18C7 = $7000

These prices are from Honbits here in Sydney to get into a Carby EG.

for 5k definently recomend turbo D.

the only engine you could put in for 5k would be a b16(unless u do labour urself).

as said a b16 will set you back around 3k and will have a few k's on the clock, so w/pump, seals, timing belts, clutch etc will all need or nearly need replacing. and to spend all that money just to have a b16 is not worth it.. bump ur budget up or turbo the d

edit* didnt know it was a carb... plust $$ for loom etc
