Hello All,

Just a quickie, but when you go to remove a tyre from a wheel (DEAD flat) do you need any special tools? The wheels are fuxxorred so I'm not too concerned about damaging them, but I want to keep the tyres in as good of condition as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Save yourself the pain and have the tyres removed at a tyre retailer (only a few$). Doing it yourself with no experience, you're not unlikely to damage the bead and then the tyres won't hold air.

as JohnL said

you really should use specialist tools and a tyre shop will only charge you 5 bucks to do it

Yah? May have to hit it up then. You can buy these tools at repco/supercheap and the like too though right?

my father inlaw can remove tyres by hand but it's not easy

you need a big hammer and a cold chisel to break the bead

Good to hear Daz,something I've thought about but thought I would rather pay $14ea to have them swapped over, balanced and fitted.

That's a lot of $ for two minutes work...

Phone more places. I recently asked a shop to check the my front wheel balance, and when they were found to not require balancing was charged $0.00.
