Yes he is correct.

You don't need to upgrade them anything soon unless your track racing the car.

Get a set of good brake pads and change fluid and you'll see a big difference.

Only if you got rear disk brake.
if your rear is a drum, then better change them.

It depends how fat you are going to drive.

If you will drive under 110km/h then all you will be doing is getting to 110km/h quicker, i wouldn't bother unless you are going to 'speed'.

OEM pads, bleed the system, disc brakes for the rear

no need to go all baller for endless pads or race pads (most dont heat up as they say...)

Honda has made some of the best brakes in the world for many yrs, and are up there with the best :D

ek do not have the same brakes as a dc2r
unless its a ek9 which i doubt u have
who ever told u that are bullshitting you
they are significantly smaller
i would run the itr brakes if u can
if u cant then
just get good aftermarket brake pads
oem pads are ok and are over priced
best to have the best brakes you can afford

ek's fronts are the same size as dc2 just different caliper size.

EK, DC - 262mm,
Integra Type R - 282mm.

just get new brake pads + bleed the system. And as mentioned above if you have drum brakes at the rear get discs

If you upgrade to type R you'll have to upgrade your brake booster aswell. You dont have to change to 5 stud, you can just redrill the integra rotors to suit your stud pattern

Yeah but if you get the ITR brakes, may aswell do the whole 5lug conversion... True?

And MrSlpa, I think that guy is either full of it, or you misheard him.
ITR brakes are a different size to EK brakes.
As everyone else has said, the cheaper option is to get a good set of brake pads to make you slow down better.
And also, I think.. Legally.. To have a bigger/more powerful engine, you do need better brakes.. But that's legally... :P

you can do ITR brakes alot cheaper then 5 lug conversion.

Legality wise you just have to register new engine and if needed get engineers report.

Bigger engine doesn't always mean you need better brakes. It's just recommended. Because stopping is alot more important then accelerating

why have a type r set up and run shitty smaller brakes
or modify it so u have wannable type r brakes
go figure
most of u say to do this do that
but most of u have never had 5 lug
may as well get it done properly the 1st time

agreed with lan

if ur gonna get bigger brakes then do it right, 5 lug that thing

if ur just after better braking then some aftermarket pads rather then paying for brand new oem ones, u could even buy some green stuff at a lower price of the oem pads

if you have payed all the money to put the faster engine in. you would want to make sure it can stop in time. or all that money is down the drain/in the boot of the car infront of you!!!

or dont speed and maintain a safe following distance

Well, if your not an idiot on the road and follow the speed limit, there is no reason why you need the extra brake capacity for the streets. Only if you go track racing or do open days, then you might need a bigger brake upgrade. Having said that, i tracked my old car on stock EG Vti brakes (242mm).

good points -
to be legal (barely) with the b18c engine you require 262mm fronts and the disc rears. That is , the same sized brakes that came with a car with that engines capacity. IE dc2 vtir or gsi. You can use these ,they are fine for street and casual track use but its advisable to upgrade to the brakes that werdesigned for that particular engine power. IE standard to a DC2R.
