So i've sold my EG5 and now in the search for a new car.
I've narrowed it down to either a EK4, EM1 or VTiR DC2

But i cant seem to find a EK4 with low kms, they all have heaps! Theyre priced around $10000-$13000
EM1s are priced around $12000-$15000, i like the body and all but its not that far off a Type R integra
VTiR integras are nice too, i want it mainly for the engine, but the thing stopping me is that theyre pretty old now and theres heaps of them.

Do EM1s usually go for $13000? i really want a white one! so if you have one or know someone that is willing to sell it PLEASE let me know(:

So i really dont know which to get, its only going to be a temporary car till the end of this year. I need another manual car to get my Ps in June.

I just want a cheap car with a good engine (b16,b18..) that i can use for awhile. Also are honda engines strong? say a b16a had about 260,000kms?

Help please? thanks:)

Definitely get a DC2 VTI-R Integra. Performance wise it is the best. As long as you dont mind the bug eyes look and the ealy nineties interior.

Ive been looking around myself and most cars in good condition are grossly overpriced. Check out http://www.redbook.com for a price guide.

When it comes to colours, beggars cant be choosers as it's hard enough to find one thats in good enough condition. In my opinion, the EM1 is the nicest looking one, but finding one that hasnt been kicked in the ass is hard.

oh yea, stay away from anything over 200,000 kms. Good luck!

First off EKs & EMs imo are overpriced these days, majority of them have near 200 on the clock and it really isn't worth it. Yes Honda is known for its reliable and long lasting engines although you'll find that you may have to rebuild the engine.

DC2's some with low k's on carsales are pretty expensive for what they are you could almost chip in another 2-3k for a decent R.

It all comes down to who's selling the car and if your in luck! You could pick up a bargain so just take your time and keep browsing Im sure you'll pick up something good.

But considering all three performance wise the DC2 rocks it! looks wise? thats up to your taste and what you wanna do to the car.

Who cares if your still on your L's ?

You can go get a 20B for God's sake.

Series 1 - 3
Series 4 - 5 (can get them non turbo)

You can get a decent Series 2/3 RX7 for 10k which would be fairly modified which would destroy 99% of the cars on this site.

All 3 are good cars, but go for the one which is well looked after, mint condition, low km's and doesn't attract the popo attention (12458182352135" cannon yO & chrome wheels of the same diameter). Popo's aren't nice to P-platers :(

TONTON saying L-platers can drive anything, but that would be unfortunate for OP who will soon be on his P's.

And then what?
Spend all the money he wanted to use doing up a car for repairing it and rebuilding the engine instead?? Tuh...

Get a 94 Nissan Micra, mini tub it, and put the fattest, deepest dished wheels you can find!

Here we go.

If you look after them and maintain them, then they can last forever like any other motor.

Tiksie I never said they can't last forever. Alot of them do, but you do need to spend more maintaining them than a Honda. Don't get me wrong, I love my Rotaries, but they're more of a hobby car for those who have money to spend.
Get where I'm coming from ?

Just remember that engine conversions etc. will be illegal for you since you'll be a P-plater soon, so be prepared for complications if you take that path.

JDM-EGG
15-03-2009, 03:25 PM
haha WTF SWEAR ? well lucky i got my p's already , that means it does not include me ?

if engine convertions are illegal to p - platers then thats just farked! =="

tiksie
15-03-2009, 03:36 PM
It's not farked.

We need less P platers on the road as it is, and P platers with quick cars on the road is even worse!

15-03-2009, 04:28 PM
But P Platers even with slow cars can cause accidents... Your car doesn't need to be fast to kill you ... Any car can hit a pole at 80-100 km/h... Correct?

geeang
15-03-2009, 04:53 PM
Either way, having a more powerful car will give you more of a temptation to speed in most cases. Give a less experienced driver a powerful car and the will to do whatever mod he wants and you're asking for a big news story when he has an accident.

The restrictions are in place to reduce accidents in the hands of less-experienced drivers. Obviously you can still cause an accident in a slow car, but it is very likely that an accident in a slower car will usually be at a slower speed and cause less damage.

JDM-EGG: If you're on your P-plates and you got them after the restrictions were first put in place, then yes it includes you, the restrictions are not a new thing.

Out of them... EK4 is the winner for me! I love them!!

B16's are more fun than B18's. Yeah, B18's have more power... but B16's teach you how to drive a small responsive NA engine. Yeah EK4's are awesome!

i agree its not farked...but rather then cutting down on p-platers, we need to teach them more before they get on the road. road education is shit atm.

(may be biased coming from a p-plater)
