iPod Adapter CL9

Hey guys

Have looked at the geniune and aftermarket iPod adapters for my Euro.

How much have people paid for theirs? I was shocked that I was going to be up for $450 for the Xcarlink when I can get genuine for close to the same price.

with $450 might as well by a 1din HU with usb input and pick up 1din facia.

I had 2 choices of Adapters

the 1st was just a 3.5mm Aux in for $189
the 2nd was a Ipod adapter with charging and giving me steering wheel controls and charging for the iPod for $349

Then $100 for installation, Plus I haven't got an iPod so add another $200 or so.

I was just curious as I was expecting it to be cheaper. If I can get the 2nd option cheaper somewhere else do tell ?

Ummm... you can get better adapters on ebay that is actually better than the Xcarlink. Definatelt less than $450.

Search for USA Spec, PIE, PAC and umm I can't remember the other brands now, but if you search for my posts you'll find them. USA Spec is pretty good because you can have iPod integration and have to option of AUX-IN.

How'd you do it? Can you buy that sorta stuff and just stick it over the top of the existing trim? If so, whereabouts from, approx how much, and are there any other patterns? Looks schmick!

I should imagine so! If you have the white (CD changer) port on the bottom of the stereo it should.

The seller is honest and told me if it didn't fit he'd take responsibility and refund the whole cost including postage, and all I would pay was postage back to him.

Might be worth a go.

so if installed, if the xcarlink goes into the CD CHANGING port, will the stacker still be operational?

and just to confirm, i know that steering wheel controls will be operational, but will the songs display on the head unit if i use an iPod?

it will not display song title. i think itll just say "AUX" but steering control would still work

Im about ready to purchase the xcarlink but this is a biggie for me, will the CD Stacker still work??

Also - is it worth me paying an extra $50 and getting these guys to install it? Where have you guys got the box marked 'xcarlink' fixed/attached to?

For what its worth I have been assured that the units on offer from Sydney Installers (http://www.sydneyinstallers.com) will not affect the CD stacker
