depends how mobile my hand is at the time. i sometimes use the button.

my driving instructor (like 2 years ago now) told me you should use the button, but he never explained why, or told me what it does if you dont use the button.

technically, not using the button will only wear down the rachet mechanism thats under the hand brake, it wont do much else, and tbh, i can see that taking alot of wear before it gets to the point that it'll start to slip or something

I dont use the button, i think that without using the button it helps you not to over tighten the hand brake, i have my hand brake tight so i only have to pull it up a few clicks.
