Budget, and also what exactly you want (SPL or SQ). If your installing yourself or getting a professional.

JB Hi-Fi in parra are not very good from my own experience
Their workshop is dodgy as, in the back of an alleyway and its basically a tin shed.
I had my alarm installed there in my previous civic and i had to go back there 3 times because the alarm stuffed up.
Lifestyle do an awsome job and know their stuff
Also FHRX Studio, i recommend them.

you dont need to spend 10k at lifestyle to get a good stereo
but if you want something a little better than run of the mill products found at jb/stratties/autobarn then you gotta go to the specialists
but like said, first off we need a budget

I would highly recommend FHRX Studio's in Caringbah, NSW. They have great (mostly High-End brands) gear and currently have a recession rebate of 26.25% off RRP of Hertz and Audison products.
Speakers are the single most important choice in a sound system it will make the most difference in the sound quality you hear. I’ve used/had experience with Alpine/MB Quart/Hertz/Focal etc. before and they all have their positives and negatives.
I Just purchased a set of the Hertz Energy Splits and 6*9's. They are well suited to my ear, very flat response with good solid mid/low-range. Which is good, as I most likely won't be installing a subwoofer in my Euro.
Focal - Fantastic build quality, very crisp, bright and raspy. (not my personal taste)
MB Quart Reference - Flat, even response. A little power hungry, probably a little muddy than preferred (mid-bass overpowers high-range)
Hertz - Very Flat, Solid Mid-bass, great build quality but not up to the standards of Focal in their low/mid range...as only the Mille (and possibly Hi-Energy's) are still Made In Italy...
Alpine - Very Mainstream/Mediocre when it comes to speakers. Competitively priced. (Excluding their F1 Status gear and DDLinear.)
If you ask me... leave Speaker's to the Europeans and electronics to the Japanese :D
Go to FHRX with some CD's and they will be more than happy for you to listen. I've had to have my speakers shipped from FHRX as we in Melbourne aren't lucky enough to have a High-End audio store with knowledgable and honest people...
