View Full Version : Any Silver FDs???

im looking to finally get some wheels and suspension done for my FD.
ive noticed most of you guys in this forum own a Night Hawk Black FD, which makes it easy on the choice of wheels, because virtually any colour can match it and not look out of place.

i've got an Alabaster Silver civic, and don't know what type of wheels would suit a silver car... looking at getting around 18-19" wheels.
anyone got any ideas? or does anyone else in here have pics of their own or other silver FDs with a nice set of wheels?

Probably black rims... as long as the alabaster silver isn't like the blueish silver civic you'll be fine.

There there... at least we all agree that the ruby red is the most senior and boring colour..

only one way to go with a red FD... MUGEN RR KIT!! lol :p

anyway.. how bout a set of these? i like how they're kinda dark and glossy.

http://i20.ebayimg.com/07/i/001/32/16/37c8_1.JPG

but they only look black in about 70% light or lower. apparently in 100% light they look like Magnesium Blue:

http://i15.ebayimg.com/03/i/001/33/cd/c2b9_1.JPG

will they be alrite for a silver FD? are they worth getting for $1000, or is it better to get a set of glossy black ones?

ekdez

those look real nice for $1000 LOL

their rota rims off ebay i think. yeah look pretty sweet on a white/silver car i rkn

would be even nicer if they came in WHITE! or full matte black =D. maybe it calls for a paintjob heh?

btw how much would a professional paint job on set of rims cost?

i heard you can request a particular color that you want from rota..

yes they those ones. been speaking to the seller and says he'd be able to get glossy black versions if i wanted. but those wheels do look pretty nice on the WHITE fd... i wonder if they'll look as good on my SILVER fd??

i have silver moss and have matt black rims. Too bad i dont have tyres yet so cant upload a pic. Silver moss is darker than alabaster silver but i agree that it will look sexy with matte black wheels

they dont seem to have the same curve of the spokes (from inside(centrecap) to the outlet of the spokes) as the genuine rays ce28s have - which is a very attractive feature of original ce28s, unless i am greatly mistaken lol... maybe i just can't see it from those pics...

aero

with the ce28s real or replica, the concave (curve) look on the spokes only happens when the width of the wheel is 9" or wider. ive gone through a number of forums, which have evos and rx8s with geniune ce28s and replica rota versions, and in both places, they say that the concave look is for 9" and wider rims...

apparently our FDs can only go to about 8.5", but ive heard that 9" can fit in the rear.

here's a pic of a set of Rota G-Force (volk ce28 replicas) wheels in 18x8 on an evo

and this is a pic of the same Rota G-Force wheels on another evo, BUT in 18x9 with an offset of +35

Alabaster silver *HI5*!!

Here's my fd, just to give you an idea what polished black would look like...

If i were to get new rims i'd get something that is gunmetal grey or something. You'd want something dark with spokes with the silver. I've seen black once and doesn't look too bad..

wow, thats a nice lookin car, man!

i probly should get some dark wheels then... gunmetal grey or some sort of black variation. that seems to be the best suiting type for silver FDs

the rota ce28 reps can be ordered in specially in gloss black or gloss white - i just asked the seller and he said at no extra cost. Soo i will probably be getting these rims in due time in white hehe =D.

great width/offset lol. Very safe hehe. Better than the 18x8 +40 i was planning on lol.

so, are u planning to get something like 18x8 +45? or....? whats the perfect width and offset?

lol yeah, its a prime example of subtle mods, yet very appealing to look at. and of course, its a silver fd! :p

nah the rotas are 18x7.5 +40, i would rather 18x8 +45 but the rota 18x7.5 seems nice, safe, and clean =D.

i think them in GLOSSY BLACK!!1 or matte black would look well on my car. plus they all come in 18x8 +45.

i was also looking at the rota sdx, but they dont come in anything larger than 17" :(

the ones on the ebay site are the direct ce28 reps. real nice and clean look. 18x7.5 +40 is prob a really good setting.

that would look nice, but highest size it comes in is only 17", which sucks, coz i want something slightly bigger, just for the presence and show.
i dont think ill make many engine modifications as i dont think i will get far with an auto vti.

glossy black versions of those would look so like the ones on the mugen RR :p

glossy black 18" wheels + alabaster silver fd = win! amrite?!?! lol
