How did you lock ur keys in the car with the alarm activated (which would be locking using the remote)? Unless you locked the car, opened the boot with remote and closed the boot with key inside?

are you talking about entry or driving it away?

I'll say entry because stock security is nothing spectacular on a euro including the new CU2 imo.

But then again, a good determined thief can pretty much get into any car. The only way to keep car safe is car insurance.

I'm guessing it was most probably Darkii_ left the keys in the car and then manually locked then closed the doors which also activates the alarm.

lol so many pple, mite as well give a few more details. it was at 3.50am this morning the neighbour called the police. and it was the only night i parked it on the street, casue i was dropping a freind off at 12 so i got home at like 12.05am and went inside. my house is all the way at the back of 3 houses so its a good 60-80 metres from the road.

the drivers side rear door window had been smashed, but the ripped out and scratched the side of my door becasue the tint made it stick together.

the neigbour starteld them and the one inside the car tearing everything out got up and his acomplish drove by and picked him up.

when the police came they tried to tell me they were trying to hot wire it but werent very good at it.

lol PM me too.

i hope there's no security flaw in our euros :(

as soon as the window was smashed, the alarm didnt go off, it was wen they unlocked the door from the inside pulling up the lock.

very annoyed already did a police report ect. waiting for insurance to get back to me.

they took everything in the interior and boot. i dont know how they got in there, becasue i had the latch by the drivers door locked. but it looked like it had been pried open.

head unit, amp, sub, pradas, money, ipod ect all gone .

Pretty hard to do much about a smashed window - that could happen to anyone with any car (unless you have bullet proof windows which would make things a tad more difficult!).

Yes the Euro could do with a sensor inside the cabin for movement to trigger an alarm - but even if the alarm did go off - theives could take all the loose stuff in your car in a very short time and run off. How many people on the street pay attention to an alarm going off?

17-03-2009, 09:23 PM
the factory alarm system does not have impact sensors, so that why the alarm didn't go off cause it does not have that feature.

the factory alarm is a very basic one which only goes off when someone opens the door after your have armed/locked the car with the remote

Very similar thing happened to me - parked near a shopping centre in the middle of the day! Sub + amp in boot gone, as well as my burnt cd's from the cabin (lol, cheapos).

Luckily there wasn't anything more in the car. Sorry to hear about your loss! Hope everything works out alright ey

it was going off for 10 mins until a resident across the street went out side to see what it was

Kind of right, what happened is i used the remote to unlock the car then opened the boot manually. Closed the boot with the keys inside and it already auto locked while the boot was open. So when i closed the boot it was locked inside lol

and probably wont find who did it. its not really a high concern for the police. they just looked at it thats all

What insurance company u with? NRMA has that $5 extra a month extra for broken glass insurance. if not diy install new window. Its cheaper to buy a 2nd hand one and install yourself. waiting for the insurance company takes weeks.

Time to get a pager if u got expensive gear in the car man.

Scanners which can pick up oscillations from things like clock crystals in phones, computers and stuff like that are easily made and used to locate things like laptops. When I worked in the field some of my colleagues have had their cars smashed into in the precise location their laptops were hidden.

Sorry to hear you got done over. :( Hope your insurance sorts things out soon.

Entry. Driving it away is more complex, but for that, there is always the flatbed.

I hope you told them about your wheels and your recent suspension mod. Coz if your with NRMA (if not most insurance companies), they will try and blame mods thats not in your policy to get out of paying/replacing your stuff.

Euro security is always rated below average. Look at this link for 2008 result.

Same for 2007. The security is just as bad

lol at scanners again....

can you explain how or what sort of scanner would be able to pick up a oscillation from a turned off notebook?? doesnt the car clock have oscillation as well??

Next time will be xray specs... lol

they wont be able to hot wire it...

keys have RFID in them and are encoded to the ECU...

so unless they have a CL9 ecu, matching key remote, and the RFID sensor, they wont be able to steal the car

Emit a radio frequency pulse onto a crystal and it'll resonate and emit its own tiny pulse, just like it does when an electrical pulse is fired through it.

And why would you point it at the clock? :p

And how sensitive or powerful your device need to be?

Any name of such device?? or its CIA top secret type of stuffs??

Cars have clock and clock have quartz crystals, it would "resonate" and emit a signal as well thus your so call detector will detect something.

What if I have amplifiers, distribution block, caps, LCD volt meters, power cable, etc at the rear boot?

Do you know what is a faraday cage? your car boot would act like one.

If you don't believe what he is saying, why do you need to argue.

I know people use these devices in Malaysia to find a car with a laptop and steal it.

They actually follow you out of your work place during lunchtime to your destination and then break in when you are away from your car.

There was a news article on those "devices" which claimed that they cost AU$20, is the size of a ball point pen, can work up to 3km in range and can even unlock your doors and disarm your alarm system. Sound like a myth to me.

I find xray glasses more plausible them these detectors... lol

no matter how good a security system is there is always a way to crack it or no matter ppl still damage your car either way.
