- power professional 65mm throttle body
- about 3000k's on the new throttle body
- started to happen in the last couple days

seems to only stick on the initial push, otherwise it's fine for the rest of the travel
the real kicker is this only happens with the car running, with the car off it's smooth from start to finish
it's as if the vacuum is strong enough to stop the butterfly from moving when closed but once open it'll be fine

checked the throttle cable and it seems to be tensioned enough and nothing seems loose/caught

anyone have any thoughts and/or ideas on my problem?

sounds like you got an indirect vacuum leak. checkthat all your vacuum leads going in and out of the IM are connected properly and are not leaking. trace all the vacuum leads to their destinations thoroughly.

you just gotta troubleshoot and slowly eliminate a big list of possible faults....

try swapping ur tb back to oem. if you've got oyur OEM TB just swap that one in and test if it corrects the problem. i've heard of aftermarket TB's requiring some sort of modification to stop the sticking...the modification involves adjusting the throttle plate so it doesnt fully close the TB..keeping it slightly open but to me that sounds like a 'coverup' bandaid fix type of thing.

does it lag between a certain rev range? like from idle to 2000?

yeah might have to check all the lines, new clamps maybe

nah no lag, i'd like to say the butterfly sticks but when the car is off it seems to be smooth as butter which is real odd

will give it a go tonight and see whats up

hmm... check all your vac lines like said above, but i was just thinking...

If you get a plastic bag and cut it up and wrap it around the the TB and tape it down good to create the best seal you can then start the car and give the engine a rev to see if the bag gets pulled in as if the air is being sucked out?

I dunno if that would work, but it just seemed like an idea to test the seal around the TB without removing it.

Never had a problem with these throttle bodies.

Put your hand over the throttle body and check for vaccum leaks

yeah will give it a test soon
the only thing thats really changed is whilst looking over the engine bay before my pink slip i found one of the bolts for the tb had backed all the way out and was just rattling, tightened it up and it seemed fine but thats about when the whole sticky pedal happened
might have to torque up the other bolts and see if it helps

don't tighten it up too much, while re installing my CAI i snapped the bolt now its stuck and cant get anything in there to get the bastard out.
