Hi, currently I am having 7x17+38 with 225/45/17 on my EK and it scratch the inner body like hell. Besides, it stick out of the fender like 1-2cm.

The paint of inner body is totally gone for area about 7cmx7cm.

Thus, I would like to downgrade my rims to 7x16+38 with 215/45/16 to Civic EK.

Just wondering if anyone have experience with this setup and would they scratch or stick out of the fender?

Thank you.

7x16 is a bit confusing for me, not used to it. maybe better if you type it as 16x7.

16x7 should be fine i think, i got 16x7 on my car. not sure abt offset, just some random rims.

how low do you go though.

you were using the totally wrong tire for your 17x7 man

225 is too wide and 45 is too fat of a profile.

you should run 205 or 215 max and a 40 profile. this would have eliminated much of the scrubbing.

Yeah, at the first, the 17x7 is so low that as long as i brake, the tyre rub on the upper rubber guard. so I had to adjust the height to 2" now from the tyre to fender.

However, the tyres still rub on the inner body and I had to turn at least twice for parking.

So i am now thinking of purchasing this 16x7+38 with 215/45/26 tyres. hope the radius would be smaller from touching the inner body.

So i need some info on it.

Cheers

the reason I use 225/45/17 is because they are yokohama ad07. I couldn't get 205 or 195 for it.

a good tyre in the wrong size, isnt going to help your performance as much as a correct tyre size would.
that said, a 215 45 16 will help with your problems, but as d15 said, it would be better with a closer tyre like the sizes mentioned.

yeap. now i am on the way of purchasing this 16x7+38 with 215/45/16 yokohama a022 tyres.

I wan to make sure they wouldn't scratch the car body and causing me any trouble before i get them.

yea should be fine,
i'm using 215/45/15 which i think is very similar in overall size and it gives me no problems on my EK.

i'm running 205/45/16 with 16x7 wheels at +42 offset (street)
and i'm also running 205/50/16 with 16x7 wheels at +45 offset (track)

I have no scrubbing or turning issues at all. I haven't rolled any of my guards either.
Also running -0.5 degree camber front and rear with 0mm toe for street. No scrubbing. Close, but no scrubbing.

Tats great. I might need to save up for a camber as well. :P

I didn't manage to contact the seller of A022 tyres. So need to pick up tomorrow or thursday.

Hope everything goes fine.

I am now running 205/50/16 sp3000.
run good at first, but then i bring the car to suspension shop for height adjustment and 4 wheel weight balancing. They lower the front too much and causing rubbing now (only at high speed and really sharp cornering). Got to increase the height like 2-3mm and should be fine now.
thinking of posting some photo but tired with imageshack
