Sup tyre gurus,

I jsut recently fitted some 195/55 15s to my 7 inch wide rims.

Now I have fitted them to the car, i have a huge gap beetween my tyre and wheel arch. There is a 5 finger gap.

Before I ran a 205 60 15 on my car. There was a 2 finger gap.

If i run a 205 55 15, will the gap decrease?

i dont think so coz its still 55s just the width is changeing from 195>205. if that helps ya

the 205/55/15 will have a bigger side wall as 55% of 205mm is greater than 55% of 195mm

so the gap will decrease a lil

yeah but not by much. the overall diam only increases by 10mm..

the 55 isnt the height of the sidewalll in mm or something, its the height as a percentage of the width. 55% of 205 is more than 55% of 195

the 55 is a percentage of the width, so it will help it. it will be wider and higher, but still not enough as its smaller than your original size, roughly 2cm smaller in rolling diameter with the 205 55.

195/55/15 sidewall will be 107.25mm

205/55/15 sidewall will be 112.75mm

205/60/15 sidewall will be 123mm

difference in gap from your old 205/60/15 to your new 195/55/15 should be 15.25mm

Cheers guys..

I don't really want to lower the car more, as it has pretty awesome suspesion already in it

I guess it's time for rear coilovers lol

Rear coils only? What front sussy u running, the weight of your car is in the front because of the engine thus the most body roll so it would be best to put coils in the front.

The numbers on the side of the tyre aren't strict measurements. A particular 195/55/15 can be wider or taller than a 205/55/15, it comes down to the manufacturer. All else equal, chances are a 205 vs 195 with the same profile, will be slightly taller, but it won't be by much. Performance wise you're unlikely to notice the difference. Compound > width.

A critical assumption when analysing suspension performance, is that body roll angle is constant front and rear (i.e. the body is a rigid frame). Increasing roll resistance at either end will reduce body roll regardless of where the weight is.

It's a silvia.

Stiff rear end, thats why I want coilovers in the rear.

Plus the fact I can dump it for the track / skidpan!

thanks for the advice guys...
