I'm wondering if this is normal. I got a double din faceplate from JDMconcept which is a genuine Honda accessory and when matched with the stock faceplate it is more of blue-ish darker grey. Are all of them like this?

Is there any cheaper option for changing cd player? Upgradation seems costly. Total cost of Double Din Faceplate + headunit + installaion is more than 40GB PS3

Not really, if you want to upgrade your CD player you pretty much need the faceplate. You could try look around for someone selling an old one or try and find replicas. (And remember you don't need to buy games it ;) )

It's quite a lot of money for some molded plastic isn't it?
For that price you buy stuff with electronic parts.. Before I was deadset on getting doubledin, but considering the price these days.. not so sure.

yes, different colour, also dont bother getting a din face from the usa or the replica din kit scroshe on usa ebay as their dash has a different curve to it too.
only option is to get the thai or jdm kit, both will be different colours.

I was also thinking to change to cd player but looking at the total cost to do that, I might have to drop the idea. Unfortunately current AM radio also does not have the freq that I'm looking for :(

Yep they're the wrong colour. Northfield Moorooka in Brisbane can easily repaint it back to factory spec though

Got mine from JDM concepts, and don't seem to have any issue with the color as previously mentioned...
It looked wrong when I took it out of the packaging but once in the car it looks fine...

The fascia was from JDMconcepts on eBay - around $200. The stereo is USB/MP3/iPod compatible, try JB hifi. Same with the xPlod speakers.
I did the install myself but purchsed an antenna adaptor and loom adaptor from the US - eBay again. Both are 'Scoche' brand items and made the install a lot easier - never been one for cutting looms... I think they were both around the $5ea mark but postage was $29!!!
Still worth it in the end

gee when I was looking at them in june they were only $120.00 gone up a lot.
My installer got a non oem & when installed in the car it looked a dark grape colour. We painted it, had to also paint the glovebox as the new colour was a gloss finish & not metallic. Looks okay.
