hi!
i got a eg4 twin carby motor. it runs a bit rough in the morning. black smoke and jerky acceleration. just as the temp needle climbs up, the problem solves. the car has done 190k. also should the car rev up when its cold? well mine doesn't.
the ignition timing. how do u set it up. i dont see any marks on the timing cover. does anyone know how to set that up?
thanks

"black smoke and jerky acceleration. just as the temp needle climbs up, the problem solves"

Best guess; automatic choke is over-richening the cold temp air / fuel ratio. Might be exacerbated by a dirty air filter (?), or float level too high (??).

ditch the motor and do a conversion

Sound like the choke assy or as Honda call it a thermal wax valve opener.

Are you guys talking about the same thing? I'm guessing its a common problem for the carby egs', as a few ppl on here has had the same issues. But they haven't posted how they solved the problem. Is it easy to fix this problem?
