Hello,

Does the CVT works like a tiptronic or steptronic? Can I rev up the engine to the redline and change the gear by pressing the + button? Is it supposed to change the gear by itself (like in auto mode)?

It's like tiptronic. You can rev it to redline(ish) but it'll automatically gear up if you go too high.

CVT transmission as a few modes.

Normal operation, the transmission ratio is constantly variable. ie you dont hear the gear change at all

Press '7 Speed Mode' once the tranmission reverts to a traditional automatic mode. (you can hear when the car shifts a year). in this mode the car uses its preset gear ratios like the average 5 speed auto cars

Press '7 Speed Mode' + Activate Paddles.... this activates the F1 style paddles. Allows you to use the paddles triptronic. Transmission will automatically shift up when you reach the redline. Transmission will also downshift automatically if your going too slow for a specific gear. eg Driving at 60km/h in 4th and slow down to 30km/h, the system will shift automatically to 3rd.

Thanks guys.

I have figured out that:

1. press the CVT button (forgot what it is called) on the steering wheel
2. downshift
3. the "M" light will be on

then you can REV the engine higher.

a CVT gearbox , is very similar in design to a mountain bikes gearset.

That is , there is 2 main cogs with a level of "change" on them.
