Hey guys,
I'm in need of a second key (and preferably remote) for my 02 DC5. Called up Honda in Warrick Farm and they quoted me the following:
$70 blank key
$20 (non honda) - coz I need to go to a locksmith to get it cut
$203 for a remote
$110 to get the key + remote programmed
TOTAL: $403 rip off
So I was wondering, is it true that they gotta 'program' the key? I thought it was just the remote. And also - do I have any other options for the new remote?
Thanks.

price sounds about right, i got a quote at Honda for just the key and it was gonna be round the $100 mark... bit pricey, but if you're prone to losing stuff, its worth it!

There is a computer chip build in the key thats why you need to get it program and I dun think a local lock smith can do that for you unless your car dun run immoboliser.

Hmmm... well I'm not sure but when I leave my car unlocked for about 30 seconds or so and i stick in the original key, no lights come up on my dash and i can't crank the engine until i press the button on my alarm fob... that's the immobiliser right?
If so then yeah! It may sound very dodgy by that guy in cab did indeed program my key and all!
If not then :S i'd better get that sorted out soon lol
