Last night... During the big storm in Sydney... I started my car and my headlights kinda shit themselves.

I kept flicking them on and off every few seconds to try get them working.
So while driving, I just held my high beams on just so I could drive around.
Then later I tried flicking my headlights back on then they started working about 10 sec after I flicked them on.

I thought it might just be something from the rain... Something silly...
But then this morning it happened again.
I turned my headlights on, they worked, then I turned them off and back on and they stopped working...

Any ideas what the problem could be?
They tend to turn on 30 sec after they are switched on...
Bit of an annoyance...

Something wrong with the stalk maybe ?

Did you check the bulbs for any visual damage ?

Loose wiring ? Water in somewhere where it's not meant to be ?

I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove the headlights...
Looks like it's my only option... *sigh*

Id look at the stalk first and work your way down

my old Nissan used to not give off high beam as inside the stalk, the forks werent engaging the metal properly, we bent them to work, but it was a temp fix, had to eventually buy a new one for roadworthy at a price of 260... lol

these parts ware over time, my Nissan was about the same age as your car

Stalk is the little black plug thing that connects from the wiring to the bulb... Right?

The bulbs are fine too by the way...

I had a look at those lil black plugs and they got heaps of that gooey shit on it so Im guessing theres no conduction between the plug and the bulb.

Pull them off and give the harness a clean, obviously hasn't been cleaned in yonks!

the stalk is the bit on the steering column that you use to turn the lights on/off, blinkers, wipers etc
