Hi, I have an 99 EK1 with a 96 EK4 front end conversion, including suspension assembly, sub frame and rack.

Today I test drove a mates stock 99 CXI and it has a much smaller turning radius as compared to mine.

Are EK1 and EK4 steering racks that different, or did the front end conversion screw something up?

steering radius ? do you refer to rack ratio ? or maximum turning angle or wheels ?
What wheels are both you and him running ?(standard or bigger etc) ?

Im refering the turning radius of the car. Calculated by the diameter of the circle the car makes at full lock. The EK1 will be able to do a u turn in a 2 lane road when mine needs a 3 lane.
Im using 16s, his is stock.... I do not know if lowering the car would affect it, but mines lowered his isnt.
THx!

your lowered stance and wider rims will alter your "turning circle".

Yeah my turning circle is shocking, my mates commo can turn like a bloody forklift compared to my civic. It's quite lowered and is cambered slightly tho

I think our civics are just like that, and any sussy mods will alter it to.
The steering seems to be bit too light and dont get to full lock fast enough to do a fast U-turn, compared to my dads vw golf which has a bit heavier steering allowing more control.

Just an update, ive raised the car and redone my alignment. I did notice a very very slight improvement but it could just be psychological.

Anyway, read on the net that the ek4 and ek9 has a 9.8 meter turning circle, which could be the reason. The rest of the eks has turning circles of abouts 5.8m. Dont quote me on this though.
