View Full Version : Turbo Water Line & e-Boost 2 Install Help!

Hey Guys
I have two questions:
1. Anyone got any clear photos of how to install and feed the turbo water lines from the IM and block back to the turbo?
Every install and DIY I can find misses this step or the photos aren't clear enough to see where the hoses go and what route they've take.
2. e-Boost 2 instructions clearly say to use a pressure source before the throttle-body or butterfly when connecting actuator to the e-Boost solenoid and states NOT to use the intake manifold as pressure source as it will see both pressure and vacuum.
James (BLKCRX) from Melbourne convinced me to tap the intake manifold plenum and use that as the pressure source for the turbo actuator but maybe I’ve got'n confused ?
Cheers
Luke

you just need to complete the loop. It will be like this, TB--->Turbo--->Block

Na just two..
One for the Boost Gauges and one for the e-boot valve..
Eazy block
Yeh, bypass the TB. Kill two birds with one stone.
Dean/Luke, can you explain this in a little more detail? As to why etc, I take it the pipe running off the throttle body to the turbo used to go somewhere else?
Cheers,
Matt

Cool good
Worked it out myself while doing it
I didn't bother bypassing anything as it made the lines eazier to install anyway

theres a coolant line from block >>>> IACV >>>>>FITV >>>>>>> block
bypass to turbo goes block >>>>>>>FITV>>>>>>turbo>>>>>>>block
your basically cutting out the coolant supply to IACV(not really needed in aust.) to apparently remove one of the heat sources(hot coolant) from the intake manifold.
u could also bypass the coolant supply to FITV to remove that heat source from the TB,but u'll have to lose the FITV alltogether,so block up FITV TB passage, manual cold start, etc.

Hey Matt. Type R, B series is a bit different. Goes Block (off intake manifold) >>>> TB >>>> IACV. So yeh, just run to turbo from Block (intake manifold) and IACV to totally bypass Throttle Body.
The hot water passes through the TB so in cold temp places cruising down the Hwy or something, it does not freeze open so the throttle sticks. You don't need it in Au. Well maybe in southern states?

Thats your FITV under the TB Fastfwd as Crxer said. This is what I mean, Type R B series don't have FITV. I think all Obd2's dont have FITV's.

i think its '96+ dont have FITV(OBD2 like u said) deano.
btw, doesnt matt have an EF8? didnt know it was packin a typeR?

Heres a comparison for Type R and Other throttle bodies (not sure what models) ... for reference.
Type R. No FITV. Note 2xThrottle body coolant connection pipes. This is what can be skipped and capped off.

Other, showing FITV. Looking at this one now, you cannot do a Throttle Body bypass as water needs to flow through the FITV? and therefor goes though the Throttle body and out?

Sorry. Was not refering to Matt as having a R. Was just saying hello. :p
Thanks Dean, Jason & fastfwd (sorry don't know your name). I just have the B16a, not got the car with me atm so can't go out and compare, but great info none the less. I just need to sus out the coolant lines for my turbo, I had a look at a set up on a del slo the other day, but was intrigued by the above so though I'd ask.
How many bloody PQ things do I need before I can start a worklog?

I know it's off topic, but do you mean a build thread?

Stefan (zeforce) has got the idea, ive just started a build thread myself in the last 2 weeks. If your doing a big DIY build and you need help along the way the best way to do that is in a build thread. I was asking questions left right and center and they were just making clutter. Build threads you can just keep it all together Plus if you post up your pics and info people can learn from your progress also.
