Hi guys - first post here.

Some f&^%^head got in my car with something in their pocket and gouged the front passenger seat.

I have been to a few auto trimmers who have said it will be hard to match the leather - grain / color exactly. One suggested I call Honda about a replacement skin for the seat - so I did.

I replacement bottom cushion cover - this is just the leather, no seat / foam - is...wait for it.......$1300.

Now, does anyone know where the leather Honda uses comes from ? Is it european ? I was hoping to be able to buy some and get an upholsterer retrim my seat.

I have the Honda Graphit colored trim in my Euro Luxury.

Honda's probably got it from a cheap OEM supplier. I'd say, replace the leather with one that matches the closest. I would pick a better quality leather than the one that comes with the Euro because cracks will appear within a few years if not treated regularly.

replace both with 06+ leather seats if you do both in pairs.

or get full interior reupholstered.

Yeah - I rang around some wreckers today, no one has seats. Given that a 40cmx40cm piece of replacement leather from Honda is $1300 I would hate to think how much two seats would be worth !

Grain will never be a perfect match, but the colour isn't such an issue. Specialists can spray the whole seat/interior to match if it's not as close as you'd like. And it'll be significantly cheaper.

I wouldn't be too fussed about matching the colours perfectly. Heck, get both driver and passenger side seat bases reupholstered, so you end up with better leather than original.

I saw one on ebay with a blown airbag....i reckon just keep waiting. It'll save you a crapload....but in the meantime, i would say have it repaired before it gets worse.

That's what i'd do.I know a motor trimmer that can retrim front and rear seats(facings only) for approx.$2K-$2.5K

I'd stitch up the hole to stop it spreading for starters and be patient and wait for a seat with blown airbag to pop up somewhere. Grab the cover off the base and then get the upholsterer to do something with it. I remember, years ago, you could get these leather repair kits which had some epoxy type of stuff, some die and little "grain moulds" to repair leather lounge suites and so on. Reupholstering would be nice!

Wow, that sucks. Are you sure they're cracks, or just creases? We've had our CU2 for 9 months and almost 3000km and only the drivers seat has a few slight creases on the side bolster.

Happens. It is cheap leather, unlike the good stuff used in Mercs or Lexus. Use good leather conditioner every month to slow down the occurrence of cracks. Not sure what you can do about the existing cracks though.

It's a cheap car. You can't put in expensive leather into a cheap car and expect it to stay cheap. What does that have to do with being made in Japan (or anywhere for that matter)? There are cars coming out of South Africa with leather HEAPS better than the Euro.

The leather in the Euro is allright as long as you look after it.As Aaron said treat it monthly and it'll last.
