lol luc

try putting insurance under a parents name

Manabir

it goes on driver history, age, gender and location aswell as what the car is.

me: 99 vtir lude, 25, no licence suspentions, no at fault claims, living in boronia SE melb, suspension mods, kit, stereo, $1200
me mate: 97 vtir lude, 24, lost licence 3 times (once demerits, twice street racing), 1 at fault claim, living in ringwood (about 4 suburbs from me), no mods, just a tad over $3000

but then another example.
when i moved here from bendigo (central vic).
living in bendigo and being under 25 my insurance was $1200...moved to melb it went up to $2000...turned 25 and it went down to $1200.
$800 jump cause melbourne has a higher risk of accident or theft than central vic.

and are you male or female?
they typically charge more for men as we are more likely to have an accident. apparently.

so.....how old are you, where are you, whats ya driving record like and are you male or female?

(btw i had a 6 month suspension from speeding taken into account)

This is your reason. Just cars charged me less than half that when I was with them. Their initial price when I was 19 was $1200

21 this year, just the one suspension for speeding. living in 2170. (sydney) .yeah well looking at preludes as a run around while i wait till end of the year till i start looking at 350z...looks like insurance takes that away.

it also helps if people check with insurance companies before they purchase their cars, this way you can work out if you really can afford to drive that type of car.

try ING, just cars will kill ur life in excess

600 excess
650/600 sex excess
900 (coz it falls under more likely to be stolen or written off)

ING is 1800 for me and only 1200 excess, instead of just cars which is 2300 and 2150 excess

I noticed the same thing when I was looking for insurance at the end of last year. I ended up going with AAMI cause my parents are with them as well.

I'm 21 (22 in a few days), Rating 1, No crashes, Done the AAMI safe driving test and pay around $875. I also get a bit of a discount because my parents are with them as well.

This is for a 97 vti-r prelude.

$850 comprehensive for me with just car.
if someone hits me...no issues...i get my car fixed...

if i'm at fault..excess is nearly $3000...
i only drive to work and home...hardly go anywhere else/never park anywhere dangerous...i'm a very alert driver..chances of me sideswiping/rear ending someone? never...

hes got a low premium because he has a massively high excess, its a risk but it can pay off if you dont have an accident

I'm a 20 year old student who lives in a high risk melbourne suburb, and I'm with Western QBE (ie: ING, most Credit Unions, etc use them) and I pay $2300 a year premium. However I have an excess of $700 should anything happen.

When I looked at JustCar I had a premium of $1400 but an excess of close to $3400. I went with QBE lol. Smarter option I thought.

WOW insurance is expensive for preludes o.O
Have you tried putin ur dad's (or any1 thats been driving along time) on your insurance as main driver, and you as the second driver who only drives "a few" times a week?

TonyD
02-04-2009, 06:20 PM
Yeah I did try that, but there were two reasons why I couldn't do it:

1) I took out a loan on the car, and when they saw that it was financed under my name but my dad was the primary driver, they queried it and denied it.

2) I've established my driver history. Having yourself as a secondary driver means you have to wait two years before going up one rating. I'm already Rating 3 at 20, most of my mates are still Rating 5 because they've never insured their own car.

i think just car is really expensive too.. haha last time i just played around and checked how much it cost to insure a Holden Astra 3 door and was quoted like almost 3k. haha I think it really depends on your age, sex, etc etc that the rest of the guys mention.

Like mrwill or yf said, just put it under your parent's name and you as secondary driver. That's what i did with my lude.

If you can't put insurance under your parent's names then i suggest getting a quote for a different car and see how you go. I'm thinking of getting another car only after 25 for cheaper insurance too.

i was merely stating the obvious, the mod is a fagg and he always spoke of younger boys, so one day when he was rudely butting into my conversations and started sticking up for one of the younger BOY members i just told him the only reason he is giving me shit and sticking up for him is coz he likes lil boys, lol not my problem its true, he shouldnt be allowed near them!

he just got cut thats all i dont care that site didnt help me with my car as much as ozhonda does, those ppl on pa just bitch all the time lol, go back to that stupid forum now and guarenteed someones talking about DWN BOI lol i know u miss me faggs...

plus it was just ppl from his state that are the main gronks, that mods a dud and had it in for me from the start. he infracted me twice in a row for saying sumthing, then 2 mins later i seen he posted something similar and was talking shit about me so i contacted another mod who reversed my infractions and infracted him instead. so there!! lol

ANYWAY back to insurance I'd have to say that so far my best experiance is with ING and their pay-by-the-month is quite reasonable, way more than Just Cars! Also if you pay an extra $45 a yea it protects your no claim bonus (i soooo reccomend this as when i had an accident, no-one deemed at fault, my insurance went up $300!!) so always protect ur no claim bonus its worth it!

Guys, what's happened in the past has happened. Lets just move on.
Look, I'm not on anybody's side here but from my p.o.v I believe nikki is still copping it even when she hasn't done anything to provoke others.
I'll just leave it as that :)

Just car WILL charge you that much for insurance, thats exactly how much im being charged and i started my insurance with them before i lost my license... Preludes are more to insure.. especially if you have Vtec.

they are...me mate with a dodgy driving record who pays WAAAAAAY too much for insurance just bought a 07 fully optioned euro lux and it costs less to insure. the car costs about double the lude but it is cheaper to insure?!?!

dwn_boi
26-06-2009, 09:31 AM
They are only so expensive because they are a coupe and at higher risk of being in an accident or being stolen. When you insure with JustCars they have an added extra payment of $900 because they fall under that catagory..

My best policy is with ING $1800 and $1200 excess.

well, the S2k is our weekend car , so i would struggle to put 8-10,000kms a yr on it .

But i got the prelude quoted as my daily driver for 20,000kms a yr . and thats the price i got. You should do an online quote to see what you come up with , definitely worth a look.
