I just got a set of aftermarket HIDs intalled on my car last night, I noticed that they are flickering every now and then. Has anyone else with aftermarket HIDs experienced this, because the guy who sold me the set tested the lights + ballast in his car (S15) and there was no flickering. Could it just be the euro?

I did read a couple of the other posts in the forum about HIDs, but they didn't have this problem with theirs straight away and the lights (+ballast) weren't flickering when used in a different car.

Dude, it's normally a sign of a dieing battery or a weak alternator.. the flickering should only really happen during start-up as thats when it's drawing most current from the car.. and once they are warm (15 secs) they are the most economical..

If you are getting constant flicker, I'd try a newer battery in the car, or check over all the connections again as well.

Mine flickered, and then started setting off the alarm in the last car due to a lazy battery..

So I beg to differ, especially if they worked perfect on another car

Usually you buy the kit again, it's a little difficult to hunt down a ballast on it's own unless it's under warranty,

The ballast is like a little amplifier that sparks up a big current of like 10,000 volts to start the gas glow in the globe,

Once the globe is lit, it uses less power than a conventional globe, as it's not using heat to create light, instead it's more of a chemical thing..

Crapdaz..

I had the B4 dude.. 03 model twin turbo..

did

- Boost
- Clutch
- Fuel
- Tune
- Exhaust
- CAI
- BOV
etc.. etc...

Running 21-22psi all day everyday

Never got a chance to be honest.. there was always something breaking :)

My mate had a 200sx that ran 12.8 down the 1/4, and I used to get him easily buy a car length or so..

so I was guesstimating 12.5 with a good launch on the track..

I ran it dead stock and got 13.9 from it.. but that was a MASSIVE launch.. like 6000rpm riding the clutch with the handbrake on!,

I beat Suabru's time of a claimed 14.5 hehehe,

high chance its flickering its either not earthing properly or ballast needs replacement
