Calling all EF8 CRX lovers!!...

Hey Guys,

I'm interested in some additional information about EF8's (Gen II Si-R CRX's) and I figure this is the best place to ask! hehe.

Firstly is anyone willing to make a guesstimate on how many true EF8's exist in Australia? I'm pretty sure there is at least 3in SA but a total account might be nice.

I guess i'd like to also know all the difference between the 89 EF8's and the Si's, so far i've got these differences:


B16A DOHC Engine instead of D16A (Obviously! VTEC YO!)
Different Gear Box, the EF8 has a cable box.
Obviously a different chip to reflect the different engine.
Climate control instead of "Air Conditioning"
Different Seats (Pleather sides etc)
Different interior on the door panels.
Different Dash (To reflect the 8000RPM redline etc)
Different exterior styling including Bonnet, spot lights, standard color coded bumpers and decals.
I'm assuming they came out with different standard alloys.

I am pretty sure I am missing something :P I guess i'd like to know if there are any other differences. Is the chassis any more rigid because of the extra power?

I will endeavor to find out some more information myself but I guess no site is going to guess how many there are in Australia...

Any information would be most appreciated!

i think sum si's have the climate control (mine does)
and si exterior is pretty much the same if its japspec
and badge lol

all depends on year model i have ef6 and 2 ef7's all jdm, 1 ef7 has the 3rd brake light (that car by rego papers is late 88 the other 2 are 87/early 88)

The SiR was specifically designed as a race model and were built in late 89-91 the other gen2 were made from 87-91/92

all gen2 are cable with d15 d16 and b16a1

yep!.. heaps in melb.. most black aswell:p.
mine has a 3rd brake light. you can add one in if you dont have one, not that hard.
ef8 is the pretty much the same as the facelift ef7 (90-91) with the exceptions of speedo cluster layout, engine parts, seat trims bigger brakes and suspension setup (eyelet) and most importantly SiR/vtec stickers.
also think the ef8 came with the option of 15" wheels

Climate control was an option on all CRX models.

The side bolsters are real leather and not pleather.

The exterior styling was practically identical to the other CRXs in the line up.

theres crx's of all model's out there either on forums or not ..

there was a guy on monday cruisin in his EF5 dual carb Auto with a glass roof... he aint on CRXaus ..

EF8's are just the top of line for the gen2 series ..

EF5 is only the 4wd varients. EF6 is the twin carb model.
