hi, I'm going to be taking the gearbox out to change the input shaft bearing. I already have a heavy duty clutch, which was installed last year. Was thinking of installing a lighter flywheel but do I need a new clutch too? Also does anyone know a place that can replace the input shaft bearing for cheap in Perth??

thanks

If the clutch has plenty of meat left on it ( and I assume it does been only 1 year old , unless you have abused it ) it doesnt not need to be changed just because the flywheel is been upgraded.

If you are getting a new flywheel, then YES the clutch should be changed. The new clutch plate needs to bed into that Flywheel. Same thing goes when you machine a flywheel, a new clutch plate should be used.

This is also the same concept of Brake pads and rotors. Once a rotor is machined, a new pad should be fitted in order for it to bed in with the rotor. But a clutch needs to be more precise, otherwise it will bunnyhop and shiz all over the place.

yes but its not a must, you can give the plate a light sand to champer it and remove the glaze left from previous use, and that will ensure better mating with new surface of the fly, seems a waste to chuck away a 1 year old clutch .

up to the owner at the end of the day, see what your mechanic / installer advises
