i've recently had my injen cai installed for about a month but realised the top tubing keeps slipping off every now and then even though it has a clamp and i have to push it in manually...does this happen to you guys?? does it mean dirt gets into the engine?

and this was my first diy and just followed the instructions but i just want to confirm with particularly the people who have the injen intake, some of the tubing does not connect anywhere, is it correct to be left as is - shown in the uploaded pics, can u guys tell me according to my pics if the setup is correct? thanks

i found that the L-shape looking tube has no where to be fitted onto the intake....

see the clamp the requires a 10mm bolt to tighten/loosen ? those are great clamps and can be bought individually at repco/bursons/auto bahn/ect.
If doing this be sure not to over tighten as it will most likely damage the tubing.

yeah you've got it on correctly, I have the same intake, yeah but a screw down clamp x2 for the short bit of pipe instead of the oem hose clamps works better.

(Top picture) You can remove that metal thing (coolant) and re-route the long coolant pipe directly where the short one goes.

Search coolant bypass or ask 1 of us online to give you details.

To reroute for the Throttle body coolant bypass you will either need a longer rubber hose or you can get a 3/8" barbed male brass elbow connector for around $5.

Looks like you got it hooked up right.

That part tends to pop out. You can get slightly longer tubing (make sure it can withstand temperature) and use that to prevent it from popping out.

Thanks for ur help guys! How do I reroute that tube?? What does it do since it's not even connected, how do connect that tube to the shorter one? Any benefits? And what do mean by coolant bypass? Sorry for all the questions

what is that tube for in the 1st pic?

Need to clarify that. Is that part of the car or part of the Injen kit?
Might be better to get blanking plugs and add T clamp aka Hose clamps on them to block the holes.

Rerouting the coolant pipes is what Min988 is talking about - solution: 3/8" barbed male brass elbow connector for around $5 - is what i said.

Makes the coolant path not via through the throttle body so cooler intake air and IM.

I got a screw down clamp today and that fixes the problem :) but replying to darren, the tube/L shape metal is from the car an i believe its the coolant pipe, right now it comes from the throttle body but its not connected to anything. Do i need to remove that Lshape metal?? Sorry im not 100% sure of what you guys means, because its not connected to the intake, doesnt it mean it bypasses the coolant anyway? please clarify, thx, can any1 draw up or have a pic of how their tubing is re-routed?? i might have to see for myself on the next meet.

I didnt mean engine coolant bypass mod (thats another story) I'm talking about that stupid metal thing with the 4 points of attachment (2 for coolant and 2 to connect your intake to the block, since you've re routed 2 there should only be two coolant pipes left) look at where each end goes and then it will become clear, you dont need that metal thing and the longer pipe should be able to reach where the shorter pipe is going. The whole point is a cleaner installation.

I used a 4cm length of copper 12mm pipe (Hotwater system pipe) Instead of the one provided by injen.

That's because he has an 06+. Our pre-06 models are slightly different in pipe routing. Even our power steering pump is different.

gimme some good techniques?
do you try to wheel spin or you start from cold or drive around until they are warm.

Ride clutch in gear 1; Rev in neutral w/ handbrake up ; once green with revs around 4k dump clutch and throttle it with release of H/B.
Does that sound about right?

oh ok i think i get what you mean, thanks min988, ill try reroute it tomorrow morning when i get a better look. So does this jus jus make the engine bay cleaner, does it do anything in terms of performance?? does the coolant bypass mod apply to this? because its a cold air intake and there are no coolant pipes running to the TB, am i right??

took me about 1-2 hours to install, not very hard considering it was my first diy.

Remember to use clamps (even hands work) or do it really quickly (like I did) when rerouting the coolant as you will lose/spill a bit when the pipes are disconnected, make sure you do this when you coolant is cool and not after you've been driving.


Hmm.. Well you should have done the coolant bypass mod while you had the airbox out, its easy all you need to do is locate two coolant pipes going into your tb one is under the tb and the other is on the side, to get to it you need to the intake piping out, whack a L shape 5/16 fitting between the two coolant lines and your done (use clamps to block the coolant from running everywhere). I'd only do this if you know your car isnt going to be exposed to freezing temperatures ever. To be honest I felt this was a waste of time and effort for something so trivial, I lost a fair bit of coolant doing this lol.

yeah i lost a lot as well
top it up once your done, then after you've driven a while check your coolant levels again and top up and check for leaks. coolant will circulate through so it'll look like you lost some

your engine bay will smell like coolant for about a week...

install it yourself it's a pretty easy install.

The installation is easy, hardest part would to remove the resonator, for people that did it without removing your bumper, you're frkn god!..

i recently installed a generic CAI using injen's instructions i found on their website.. its very straight forward. Just take your time and you will get it right. Don't bother spending extra money on installation, use that on other mods instead.

i installed my new INJEN CAI. its awesome! took a few hours because im a noob to all this. The dudes at some shops were gonna charge me $200 to install and one bastard of a mechanic gave me a lecture on the phone that "CAI is a waste of money and practically useless". I was like what a wanker! So i just looked up the previous posts on this thread and followed the instructions and hours later it was up and running. Like you guys said the resonator was a bitch to remove, snapped a few clips though. but in the end it worked out and saved a bit of cash. thanks guys for all the advice posted in these thread, helped out alot. Much love to the Honda drivers out there. :)
