I don't know if this is normal or whether I have just noticed this now. I notice that my car is noisier while idle in gear. The sound is like the sound a helicopter makes when you hear it in the distance. The car is quiet when put into park or neutral. The car does not vibrate any more than usual.
Has anyone noticed this before or have any ideas. Thanks.

It's the torque convertor trying to match the difference in RPM between the idling engine (700 rpm) and the stationary car (0 rpm)

I noticed driving to work tonight that when I turned my head lights on the noise only got louder. Same thing would happen if I turned the demister or A/C on. I stress I am not feeling any extra vibvration just a louder helicopter like noise and I am certain that the noise was never there before. This type and this amount of noise is definately not normal.

Sounds is certainly originating from the front. If that's the case that's not a good sign. My car is not even a year old. Is it a problem that I should take to the dealer tomorrow or do I have a few days up my sleeve?

Not on an 07 Euro. Record the sound and post it on youtube for us to watch.

Anything's possible with my car!! I'll try recording the sound later tonight then post it if it's audible.

As for the repair, I will let the dealer look at it and fix it. That is what warranty is there for and you should not pay anything for it at all.

Sorry no luck with the recording. I tried recording it with my mobile phone but the sound quality was poor. I will just go and demonstrate it to Honda service ASAP.

Took my car in to a honda dealer today and everything was checked over and no problem showed up. Battery was all good. Maybe it's just a cold start problem. This is the only time it happens.

When you put these accessories on the engine has to work harder to idle. Being in drive with the car stationary also places added load on the engine for aforementioned reasons (torque converter operation).
Note - the engine also idles higher when cold, increasing the speed difference between the engine side and gearbox side of the torque converter.
The noise of the engine may change with changing loads. Try not to worry too much - you have a warranty if something does show up!

I must commend the service I received at Yarra Honda today. It's the first time I've been there and was impressed by their service. I took my car in and stated my concerns. The technician then came up and had a chat and told me what he was going to do to check over my car. Once he finished with the car then he came and explained what results had shown up. I thought this was a very professional approach and very unique. I even saw the plans for their new 4 story showroom/service centre which is to open after the easter break. Very impressive.

Excellent - always good to hear "good dealer stories". We hear so many bad ones.
What did the tech tell you?

Well no fault codes came up but he explainded what he would be testing and what he'd be looking for. Then he showed me the results to show that there were no fault codes. Thewn he gave me a print out showing the condition of my battery which was rated good. He also explained some technical terms and explained in detail the inter-relationship between the battery and alternator.
I thought it was great to have all this explained to me as I have very little knowledge on the workings of a car and its components.

I think I have found the source of my noise. I think it may be the bonnet.
Viper8548 makes the point in the following thread: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86523&page=3
Putting my hand on the bonnet stopped the noise on the outside but I'm not sure whether there is still any noise on the inside. There is definately a very small amount of play when the bonnet is closed, obviously just enough to allow it to vibrate within the latch holder.

Use the twin rubber adjustment technique, stated in the last thread. Tried and proven.
