I have a friend who is about to buy a Auto GLi Jazz. The RRP on the new one with air driveaway is $22633 in Perth. I will take them to the dealer on Saturday.

Can anyone offer some assistance with pricing? What should I aim for as a price? I think I can get them down to just under $20k. What do you guys reckon?

Here are the prices from the Honda website. Prices do not include any on road costs:

Jazz GLi
1.3-litre, 5-speed manual $15,990
1.3-litre, CVT automatic $17,990
* A/C & keyless entry available as option pack on GLi ($2,000).

Jazz VTi
1.5-litre, 5-speed manual $19,990
1.5-litre, CVT-7 automatic $22,290

Jazz VTi-S
1.5-litre, 5-speed manual $22,490
1.5-litre, CVT-7 automatic $24,790

The budget is about $20k so that would put the Auto VTi out of reach cost its 22k plus on roads.

The GLi with aircon is $19,900 + on roads.

I just went to a couple of dealers today.

Lowest they would go on a GLi Auto with air is $21,300 drive away. The RRP is $23,000 drive away with metallic paint.

I was gonna get a deal for $21,200 with tint and mats but when the sales guy filled in the contract, he specified only 6 months rego. I said that we agreed on 12 months. I walked out as a result. I already had my $500 cash deposit on the table and he tries to pull this stunt. I will try again on Wednesday with another dealer.

I got my VTI-S for 23,000 with metallic paint, tint, and rust proofing, full tank of petrol and 12 months registration. Couldn't get the other accessories as I think that price is quite low.

I spent about 3 hours at the dealer

Vti not GLi

I know you got a VTi. I was meaning that the best quotes I am getting for a GLi is not much different to what you paid for a VTi.

You got a good deal :)

Just an update cause we did the deal on Saturday.

In the end, we paid $21,150 for an auto GLi with tailored mats, tinting and 1 year rego. This is the best deal I got after going to all 3 Honda dealers in Perth and playing them against each other. The RRP was about $25,000 so we got around a $3,800 discount.

I also learnt on Saturday whilst reading the West Australian that we get severely screwed in WA in relation to stamp duty paid on vehicle purchases. Therefore some of the drive away prices you guys have kindly shared are not possible in WA. To give you guys an idea, we pay 2.75% stamp duty up to 15k. Over that its up to an insane 6.5%!! In comparison, QLD buyers pay 2% flat regardless of value of car.

In Brisbane, my friend bought a VTi-S in Oct, is cost $24,000 with tinting (the darkest degree, i think is degree 7) If GLi cost around $22k, u should consider to buy a VIT-S!

I bought my Black GLi in March 2004, $22k with tinting and rear spoiler!

As I was saying in my above post, the on road price of a car differs greatly between states. If you compared the actual cost of the vehicle itself then the comparison would be fairer
